The EPA ought to be happy we’d be recycling a potent greenhouse gas. Actually, the water comes from the fuel. I had to run an estimate as I didn’t believe the quoted value:
If diesel ~ cetane, then weight is .645 lb/gal
and cetane (C15H34) is 12.93 moles/gal
or 439.7 moles H/gal
This means 219.8 moles H2O produced, or 3.98 kg water
or 0.899 US gallons.
Don’t really know what composition of #1 or #2 diesel is, but it is denser at about 7.3 lb/gal.
The EPA won’t be happy until we’re living on mushrooms and slugs.
