African was a valid race in many states I remember seeing it on forms all the time. African is what Obama is mostly Arabic only 12% negro. But African meant from Africa as opposed to negro meaning black from any other country including America. I saw this on forms from this period or shortly after. We even discussed the difference in a class at High School I remember because I thought it silly. Actually I thought race silly altogether. Why should it matter?
