A director of BGLTQ student life (at Harvard)
Harvard Gazette ^ | April 27, 2011 | Paul Massari

Posted on 04/30/2011 7:55:05 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Harvard College Dean Evelynn M. Hammonds announced on Wednesday (April 27) that she will appoint a new director to coordinate resources and develop programming in support of bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender, and queer (BGLTQ) undergraduates on campus.

Hammonds, the Barbara Gutmann Rosenkrantz Professor of the History of Science and of African and African American Studies, said the director will be a resource for undergraduates who identify as BGLTQ or have questions about their sexuality, and for all students who want to help create a supportive climate for their classmates.

“The new director will bring together the College’s existing — and substantial — supports for BGLTQ students, and also take a leadership role in the creation of new programs and initiatives,” she said. “I’m very pleased to announce the establishment of this important new position within the College’s student support services.” Establishing the new position was the primary recommendation of the BGLTQ Working Group, created last fall and made up of Faculty of Arts and Sciences faculty, student leaders, and administrators to explore various facets of the BGLTQ student experience at Harvard. According to Paul J. McLoughlin II, associate dean of Harvard College and senior adviser to Hammonds, the College will also address one of the group’s other major recommendations: creation of a centrally located, accessible space to house the office of the new director. Space in Boylston Hall will be re-purposed to house this office, which will provide curricular connections to the Committee on Degrees in Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality.

Hammonds also said the new director will be in charge of reviewing and implementing the working group’s other recommendations, which include improved coordination of physical and mental health resources, establishment of a centralized information website, and collaboration with the Harvard Gay and Lesbian Caucus (HGLC).

One reason college tuition keeps rising faster than inflation is that universities keep hiring useless administrators, often for "diversity" reasons. American taxpayers subsidize this through Pell grants and guaranteed student loans. Cut federal subsidies so that universities are forced to cut ridiculous spending.

I must be missing something here.

If you have gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transsexual all listed, why the heck do you need to include queer? What does that possible describe not included in the aforementioned categories?

Somehow I feel it is likely that I really don’t want to know the answer they would tell me.

I’m sending my kids to a place that has a Director of Chastity and Academic Focus. Now, where would that be?

How is it that Black people are always getting grouped together with Gay, Bi, Trans advocates?

I'm sure it does not refer to married heterosexual couples who prefer the missionary position. On second thought, from their point of view, maybe it does.

They are the original group oppressed by the White Male. More groups of oppressed minorities are needed to vote DNC/CPUSA.

“Diversity” was the buzzword for the last 10 years.
“Sustainability” seems to have bypassed it recently.

Communists goals and tactics have suckered the nation and managed to corrupt our future starting with our kids. There are no longer campus “morals clauses”.

All is replaced with social engineering, thus, our low global scores in traditional subjects where we rank first in no category whatsoever.

It is all to destroy Christianity and the Natural Family with the destruction of all tradition (and history) so that these godless people can redesign the “trousered apes” into their own obscene image so they can control and manipulate every thought and action. They will determine how your child think—they will create their worldview of no Objective Truth.

Homeschool your children and remove television. Public education makes your children into non logical obamabots.

I guess that the fact that the non-science and engineering part of Harvard has become a complete joke is deemed much less of a problem for Harvard then catering to an extreme minority group that could just keep their stuff in the bedroom where it belongs.

Oh, forgot, that assortment of folks are most probably not the minority at Harvard.

Which is why much of Harvard is a complete joke.
