GWU is just a few blocks away. This is a spontaneous demo. The only problem is that al Jazeera is beaming it around the globe. Osama bin Laden will be a martyr and we can expect an increase in attacks against Americans around the world in the coming weeks and months. It is a dangerous time. Still, I am glad we got the bastard.

Also interesting he was in a rather residential area and not in some cave somewhere. I never thought he was in some cave out in the mountains.
Also, in Tom Clancy’s last book that came out in December, he had Bin Ladin(well, he called him The Emir but it was clearly Bin Ladin) living in some mansion in Las Vegas. Maybe he knew more than most of us.
But good they finally got him. I’m amazed it took so long. Someone upthread posted that maybe the Iranians or some other Arab/Muslim country sold him out and I wouldn’t be surprised. Maybe Khameini put the word out that ion exchange for laying off his nuclear program he’d give us Bin Ladin. Maybe the 25 million or more just finally looked attractive enough to someone.
But overall a great day for the US. Now, if only Obama had announced that right after he got confirmation he ordered KSM and all the other gitmo detainees to be taken out and shot.
I realize this will be good for Obama in 2012 and right now he’s the huge favorite. As others have said, Bush41 had a huge lead in spring of 91 but still lost. But I think wit hhtis, absent a huge recession, he pretty much has it made.
Still, getting Bin Ladin is great news.
It looks from hints that intelligence gathered from detainees, likely at Gitmo, led to OBL.
I was thinking the same thing that they just took Osama off the ice to get some photo ops and a news story when the time was convenient.

LOL! The media is more powerful than ever and people are far dumber than they ever have been. If it weren’t for the media, Obama would never have been elected in the first place. You vastly underestimate the power that they have over the populace.
I would say to Ed Henry, claiming the personal involvement of Obama in the killing of Osama will just put a big bullseye on him and his family. AQ believes in an eye for an eye.
