Didn't Quebec become an official French province a couple of decades ago?
I have to admit that I wasn’t paying as much attention to Quebec as I usually do.
Having said that, I was surprised at how soundly the Bloc was beaten tonight. The NDP really cleaned up. IIRC, they even ousted a couple of Conservative MP’s.
What’s so strange about this is only a few years back, the ADQ (Quebec’s version of the Conservatives, I guess) won a strong minority in the provincial elections. Eventually, they were decimated.
So, in a less than 10 year period, Quebec swings from a strong ADQ minority in the provincial legislature all the way to a socialistic majority of it’s MP’s.
At face value, Quebec’s voter base sounds a lite schizophrenic in their voting.
The Bloc was a socialist sovereigntist party. The big news of the night was the Liberal wipeout.
Iggy and the Bloc forced an election before they were ready and now the Liberals have to look for a new leader.
Finally, the Quebec question is dead in Canadian politics. Stephen Harper ran a fantastic campaign and Canadians rewarded him with a stable government that should last the next four years.
Its was a great night for conservatism in Canada!
Canadians are reacting to reality. Let’s hope that there is hope in the USA for the same reaction in our next election.
Congratulations to Harper and the Conservative Party and Canadian voters!!!!
just wondering was he the hockey goalie??

The Liberals are pulling out all the stops to try to save Ken Dryden’s seat, including an appearance by former prime minister Jean Chretien, But Mark Adler, benefitting from strong support within the riding’s large Jewish community, is considered the best Conservative bet in Toronto.
