Had heard little regarding his poll numbers; so figured they were still waiting for that bounce. Keep talking about how Osama got his ‘Muslim burial’ requirements thanks to Obama; and maybe those poll numbers will stay flat. That and ask, now that Osama is gone; can we get rid of Muslim Brotherhood in our White House. . .I mean, just ‘ask’ Obama. . .Meantime, our ‘real’ world w/Obama has not/will change - for the better. That is for certain.

Want to know why there is no bounce, and any bounce will be dead cat or nonexistent?

1)
OBL has been a rumor for so long he is not a real person anymore. It is as if they came out and said they killed the boogy man or the monster in the closet. He is a shadow with no command and control capability. He has been unseen except in real bad, worse than the worst YouTube videos every several years.

2)
As of today gas is over $4. a gallon nationwide and over $5. a gallon in some places and it i only early May. People know that gas will be $5 to $6 before they the kids are out of school. Their planned car trip is now in jeopardy or at the very least expected to cost much more.

3)
Real unemployment remains at 18-19% with fake reported numbers still near 9% a full two yeas after all the talking heads declared the recession over.

4)
Real inflation is actually close to 10% per year. Food and Fuel are not included in the inflation %’s any more and people actually eat and buy gas every day.

5)
The stated GDP growth is now way less than 1% a year. The real GDP is actually negative. When real inflation is figured into the equation GDP is close to -5% per year. In other words you may have more sales, actual buying power is negative.

Well, this one is easy enough. America wanted to see OBL's head on a pike (if not literally; as close to as possible). Obama slipped his muzzie tendencies in there with the whole "burial at sea" thing; showing too much respect for our enemy.

In a nutshell, he showed weakness (again) during our time of triumph.

. . . recall that in the summer of 1979 Carter received no bounce from the Arab-Israeli peace accords at Camp David — people were upset about gas lines and food prices.

Good point. There was an article posted here on FR a few weeks ago along these lines. It contained a great money quote -- something along the lines of: "Gas prices don't lie, and you can't spin unemployment numbers to unemployed people."

It’s my family members who were already pro-Obama who have demonstrated a patriotic fervor over this I’ve not previously seen from them.

I think it is possible that genuine moderate/independents will be as much stirred to renewed conservatism, with this taste of patriotism, as renewed support for Obama.

If Obama had just bit the bullet on his ego and let someone else deliver the news about Bin Laden, and then when asked given credit to his advisors and especially the seals that carried it out, he likely would have gotten a huge bounce, and even we would have been pleasantly surprised by such humility from him.

But noooo, he cannot resist. I really think the I, me me, mine speech of his turned people off.

Why, during this supposed “history making moment” with tons of intel and communications flowing in, second by second, does no one there have their laptops turned on?

Oh God, PLEASE don’t tell me this was just another mock-up made for the morons.

[and he really doesn’t ‘look like he was there’, unless he requested different lighting and perspective than everyone else did]

I can’t stand it.

This is like a bad, straight-to-dvd spy movie.

Our small business is in the tank.

Since OBL was “killed”, guess how many new orders we’ve gotten due to everyone’s renewed ‘hope and elation’?

Yup.

NONE.

Not even an increase in phone calls from hopeful sales.

Why?

Because everybody is struggling just to FEED themselves...including us.

“ANY president would have made the same choice”

Well, maybe not.
From what I’ve read, Clinton was offered Bin Laden twice by the Pakistanis and declined the offer.

Hey could some Photoshop Freeper put a “Mission Accomplished” banner behind Obama and his teleprompter ?
Would be kind of a slick way to give credit to President Bush.
