WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Americans who raided Osama bin Laden's lair met far less resistance than the Obama administration described in the aftermath. The commandos encountered gunshots from only one man, whom they quickly killed, before sweeping the house and shooting others, who were unarmed, a senior defense official said in the latest account.

In Thursday's revised telling, the Navy SEALs mounted a precision, floor-by-floor operation to find the al-Qaida leader and his protectors - but without the prolonged and intense firefight that officials had described for several days.

Very true. Panetta started that ball rolling when he said that the SEALs made the decision to kill Osama, not the President. However, this conflicts with the statements of Obama himself who said that he authorize and condoned the killing of Osama. Combine all of this with the newly minted 20 minute blackout where they didn't know what was going on. (implying hint, hint, or they would have stopped it)

Now, in this ‘version #28’, they have the SEAL team running room to room killing unarmed civilians.

You are correct. They are intentionally setting up the SEAL team. When things were good, Obama couldn't take enough credit. He couldn't say "I did it." "I am responsible." enough times.

Politicians are always in such a hurry to spin a story, even when it doesn't need it. They can't help themselves.

Personally, I think Obama should have made a short, even curt statement from the WH press room. In it, he should have said a raid was conducted and bin Laden didn't survive. Then, he should have said that neither he, nor anyone in his administration would be making any further comments on it and operational details of any kind wouldn't be disclosed - not who did it, not how many were there, not what information was retrieved, not what resistance was encountered - NOTHING.

Of course, when we have a president who loves the sound of his own voice, and surrounds himself with similar characters, this is what you might expect would happen.
