I only saw bits of the debate, but I thought Herman Cain sounded good from what I saw of him.

Service with the Fed would seem to make it more likely he would support banker bailouts, as corroborated by his favorable comments about TARP.
But let’s not lose sight of the big picture—any of the Republican candidates is better than Obama!

I actually thought Rick Santorum won the debate, it’ll be interesting how all this pans out. I think we can win the next election.
I heard a rumor that he supported/supports TARP. If this is true then he is no longer a good candidate for POTUS, in my mind. Can someone confirm or deny the rumor that I have just presented?

Cain is the first politician I have heard since Reagan say that tax cuts pay for themselves. Bush cut taxes but was suprised when tax revenue went up. Other politicians, D and R, talk about “paying for” tax cuts, as if they won’t pay for themselves. Also, Cain talks about cutting the capital gains tax, (proven to increase revenue), and getting rid of corporate taxation altogether, (double taxation). He also talks about serious budget cuts, combining departments, which is like eliminating departments, etc. I don’t care that he is black, I voted for Lynn Swann for Governor of PA when I lived there, but you sound like you have a problem with it.
I simply like him, trust him and like that he has the ability to lead and make his points clear. How rare is that, seems our past few leader have had a hard time communicating. He also seems to have strong convictions, not wishy washy...
Cain was Deputy Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and was in office from 1992–1994. That rules him OUT as far as I’m concerned.

So anyone with monetary experience is out? I think this is one of the most important parts of his resume.
Here’s what I found after a quick search.
“Conceptually, I agreed with TARP at first. But when they implemented TARP, they made the rules up as they went along. They were partial to big banks rather than making sure that money went to community banks and small banks; it caused a lot of problems. They did it the wrong way.”
Seems that he was in favor of TARP but felt it was a payout to the big boys.
I read that he did support Tarp at the time, I wonder if he still does?
