Why would anyone take “Common”—a word that means inferior or substandard—as a stage name?
He used to use the stage name of Common Sense. That is not a joke, and is the truth.
He shortened to just Common years ago, because his fans didn’t understand his original name, nor did they practice it. That may or may not be a joke.
