Funny thing, Cesar Chavez was a strong opponent of Illegal Immigration, not because he was a big American Sovereignty guy, but because he feared the Illegals would take the jobs away from the same people who were part of his Union.
My Father In-Law was in the Agriculture Business and knew Cesar Chavez. Let's just say they had a hate / hate relationship.

You are right, KA...he was a very strong opponent of illegal immigration. He was, also, very pro-Union, as you stated.
I lived in The Big Valley at the time he was in the news.
However, I don’t think any ship should be named after anyone other than those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this great country.
It makes me sad to see the Navy being so PC...but they’ve been that way since my husband resigned his commission in 1976.
