Why the hell we ever embraced Pakistan over the far more civilized Indians will always elude me.

It was a Cold War thing. Pakistan helped the US bury the Soviet Empire in Afghanistan.

India has struggled with Islamic idiots over many centuries. Why in hell are we aligned with Pakistan? Idiots.

I’m not entirely familiar with the politics of the Cold War thing. Lately it just seems we are not getting much for our money over there. In my opinion we need to either A:cut off aid/resources or B:somehow make our relationship stronger and better with them. Right now it seems we are kinda in the middle. They are “sort of” our allies. I don’t get it.

I think it is simply historical and predates our struggle with Islam...or at least the modern struggle with Islam.

Pakistan has nuclear weapons and can be an efficient base for terrorists and guerrilla fighters if relations utterly fail between the US and Pakistan. It is very complex because the relationship between the US and Pakistan affects US/China, Pakistan/India, US/India and Pakistan/India relations. The next nuclear war could break out between India and Pakistan if things get out of control.

For one, they were on OUR side in the Cold War.

Democrats historicly are allways good at talking bad about wars and starting them everywhere they can. Just like talking bad about the poor, and makeing people poor.

Its a strange thing, never figured it out.

I see. Seems like our only option at present would be to strengthen our relationship with them somehow.

Because the socialist Indians [read:Nehru and the Congress Party] were in love, and bed, with the U.S.S.R.

Krishna Menon taught them to keep their admiration at the other end of the sofa. That Communists in government were not a good idea.

We should have moved in then .... esp. with the Chicoms all allied-up with the Paks, something no U.S. administration has ever had to explain to the American people.

Not even when it eventuated that it was the Chinese who talked Saddam out of fleeing to Switzerland when Baghdad fell, and instead launching a rope-a-dope "comeback" war, which the Chinese and everyone else knew he would go for -- he always touted himself as some kind of "comeback kid".

The Chinese cost us a lot in Iraq. We owe them in double measure. Maybe Paki would be a good place to start.

Surveying the equities now, makes the Hindu Card start to look kinda heavy in my hand ..... might fall on the table ....
