Yes, but if the story is untrue, and it goes to court, Esquire could be liable for ‘lost sales’ due to their publishing a blatant lie.

This more than a high school prank. This could be serious litigation and a huge (hugh, even) pay-out by Esquire.

If this is true, it couldn't happen to a nicer publication.

Except, perhaps, the New York Slimes, the San Francisco Comical, the Washington Putz or any of a hundred other daily bird cage liners masquerading as journalism.
