As I read it, this psychiatrist, Dr. Keith Ablow, seems to see Arnold Schwarzenneger's outrageous adultery (that was responsible for him fathering a child with an employee that worked in his home) as a great opportunity for Maria and Arnold to strengthen their marriage and, according to Dr. Ablow, certainly no reason for divorce. How ridiculous. This kind of amoral approach to marriage and adultery is harmful to the naive people that might actually buy into Dr. Ablow's weird, immoral advice. He is a sad example of what happens when you try to separate morality from sex and marriage. You get a psychiatrist contending, in all seriousness, that a husbands infidelity, even when it goes so far as to produce a child with his mistress, is somehow a means to reach a 'deeper relationship' with his humiliated wife. It is beyond absurd. Frankly, like many, I'm not terribly interested in this wealthy couples marital drama but this irrational 'advice' from Dr. Keith Ablow is enough to make one question his sanity.

It is bad advice. I don't know about slapping the label "immoral" or "amoral" on it though. One can find Arnold's conduct morally reprehensible and worthy of condemnation, but if husband and wife think there was something in the marriage worth saving they might try to save it, if only "for the children's sake." Once again, I don't think that would be the right course, but it's the way very moral people behaved in years past.
