The U.S. Department of Justice sent a letter to House and Texas Senate leaders Tuesday -- reportedly in person -- threatening a shut-down of airports if HB 1937 is passed.
The letter claims Rep. David Simpson's (R-Longview) anti-TSA-groping bill is against federal law and the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution. We include the text of the DOJ's letter, as well as a portion of Simpson's reply, below.

On the other hand if TSA lets the employee be arrested, tried and convicted, and simply shuts down air travel, ALL the TSA employees in the entire United States will WALK OFF THE JOB. That sounds like a great plan !

This is basically nullification, so Texas doesnt have a constitutional leg to stand on. That being said, the GOP Congress should make this a priority. Hardly.
Nullification can't protect an unconstitutional law, action, policy or position of the federal government. And what TSA is doing is a gross violation of the 4th amendment, with massive profits for the former TSA director who's making the radiation machines.
In addition, if the Feds tried to cut off Texas air travel over the issue of protecting government rape, the economic catastrophe and other state solidarities that would ensue would bring not only TSA, but also DHS and the Patriot Act itself into open crisis, if not bring them down.
The problem, however, is that Texas lawmakers are all hat and no cattle, and the Feds know it.

At the same time I'd rather be groped by 60 than go down in 1 plane crash. You're still missing the point.
That's not the choice.
The choice is by groped by 60 AND go down in 1 plane crash.

The planes are not crashing anymore.

Perry is a clown. The only people who fall for his fake cowboy act are people who dont know anything about Texas.
Unfortunately there are a lot of people who fall for Perry's act. I notice that many of them are young ones and out-of-staters from California and parts of New England. They give him credit for an economy that is based more on Texas' location, Constitution, and large companies that have been here for decades, in some cases based out of Texas longer than Perry has been alive
But don't let that stop them from pretending that Perry did something magical over the last 10 years, LOL. If they could, they would give Perry credit for the oil boom a few decades ago!
Oddly enough, they remain silent or defensive when it comes to Perry's attempt at the biggest land grab by the government since the Spanish ran Texas, they remained silent over the state of Texas collecting and storing DNA samples from all newborn infants without the permission of the parents and even allowing some of those DNA samples to end up in federal databases, they remained silent when Perry tried to force a vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease onto young girls without any debate or discussion with parents that would have cost Texans $360 per child, they remained silent when time after time Perry pushed projects that just so happened to involve companies employing his friends. They also remained silent year after year as Perry kept on supporting Rudy Giuliani, campaigned for him in 2008, invited him to the capital to lavish praise upon him in 2009, and sent plenty of business to Giuliani's lawfirm.
Perry is a Giuliani man through-and-through, beyond campaigning for him in 2008, and I still see the occasional Giuliani fan here on FR so I sometimes wonder if it's a coincidence.

About the TSA groupers? Yes. About this bill? No, as I don’t live in Texas.

Whether they are or aren’t, the groping won’t stop it either way.
To: muawiyah
And we have a new problem as well.
The TSA has apparently added groupers to their staff, in addition to the gropers (see post 128).
To: redgolum
I like winter to much. You must. At least we know you are no groper groupie!

Texas should station Texas Rangers at every TSA checkpoint. Touch a person or take a nude image of them and arrest the TSA pervert on the spot.

I love the smell of a Constitutional Crisis in the morning.
Here is to hoping Texas has the guts to pass it and flip Uncle Sugar the big bird. The seperate Sovereign states that understand the Constitution need to start TAKING back their 10th Amendment rights from the US Central government and telling them to go jump.
If they close down Texas airports, just stop sending them Federal gas tax money. Then see what they do.

So what do they intend to do, shoot down airliners? I mean seriously, how can they prevent flights from flying out of, or into Texas?

I am of the opinion that the more people fly, the better this will get, if before your flight, you make a concerted effort to load up on some potent Tex-Mex so that when the time comes, and the groping begins, you have an subtle answer to that groping that if applied liberally might fend off continued gropage...
Just an idea...

As I've pointed out many times on FR most of the folks who claim this, that or the other politician is a RINO probably wouldn't know it if a real RINO jumped on their face.
Well, here is a real RINO. Perry Is/Was an elected Democrat in the Texas legislature.
He found it convenient to run with the Republican label later on, and here he is, Governor!
He meets the standards of the classic definition.
BTW, being a RINO doesn't mean you must also be a Leftwingtard.
