TEPCO says contaminated water may be leaking at Fukushima plant

Thursday 26th May, 04:30 PM JST

TOKYO —

The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant said Thursday it has been looking into a possible leak of radioactive water from a temporary storage building after finding the water level had dropped.

Tokyo Electric Power Co said it had not detected unusual levels of radioactive substances in nearby groundwater, but if the leak is confirmed, it could affect the overall plan to remove contaminated water from reactor-related facilities to enable work inside them.

The utility will also check if the contaminated water has spread through a corridor or seeped through to other parts of the building at the plant’s nuclear waste disposal facility, it said.

The company said it is also considering testing for soil contamination using boring rods.

It is disingenuous from the start that they pretend they are in control of the situation. They are still maintaining the facade but now anybody can see through it. Nobody cares about what they say. They would rather march down to Akihabara and buy a Geiger counter or two.

This is just “normal” Japanese “groupthink”. Normal Japanese mass hysteria. Could be some sort of mental defect caused by massive inbreeding. They suffer from severe herding behavior.

Japanese actions during the Pacific War, when looked at through this lens, make perfect sense. Made times very tough for many decades for many, many people (Koreans especially, Chinese too, of course.)

Remember Japan well though I haven’t been there in forty years. Excellent place to learn about human nature, though such understanding puts you “on the outside looking in” in any society you live amongst. Humans are not at their best in crowds, and nothing special when not. “Less than angels but more than animals”? I can’t agree with the second part.

Right. As a herd, humans are no better than a bunch of buffaloes in prairie. No amount of high education can deter it as we have seen plenty in the real world.

want to bet they are “leaking” the water in order to deal with the storage capacity problem.

Tepco seems to be worse than enron and more incompetent than obama.

These days if you fear the worst regarding reactors at Fukushima plant, you may not be far off.
