BTW if the water is 55 degrees at the end of May its not a beach. Its the edge of a glacier.

SoCal beach water is around 58 or so now, and will only ever warm up to mid 60s in the summer.

The beaches off the Jersey shore was rather chilly this weekend.

One of the teachers at the school where I teach is a life guard. He told me that the water temps went down quite a bit.

The water temps were 55 although the air temps were in the mid 80 to low 90's.

Quite a few of the kids told me it was too hot for the beach but too cold to jump in the water to cool off.

I was just guessing when I said 55f. The actual water temp is 44!!!
