Or perhaps worse all the way around, find their 'raid' countered by accurate fire from homeowners who know who they are, but no longer think of them as "the good guys", and not without cause... Put me on the jury in a case like that and the homeowner walks. In fact that happened once in the late 1970s out in Western Maryland but that was before the internet age and you won't turn up anything about it on google.

Or died under mysterious circumstances within a year or two.
