Sure, why wouldn't this happen? Police response time is measured in hours when a business calls police - IF they've even permitted to call police and not required to go online and file a report there. Police investigations will take the video and maybe pass it onto the media with a statement ‘we need help’ and any tips that do get passed on will go straight into the cold case file, because who's going to try to bring such a case to court?

I can't blame police completely for the abandonment of their job - there's been a lot of stupid court decisions which has caused hands to be tied in a lot of cases.

To be clear, these types of robberies have been going on for a very long time, mostly was centered in the illegal alien community, and luckily was usually limited to a half dozen participants. Stores would get robbed blind, but not picked clean. Now though, these types of robberies can ruin a business.

Oh, excuse me, alleged shoplifting. Gotta go by what they'll put on the cold case as they toss it into the circular file.
