Truly great patriots like Herman Cain, Allen West, Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell and Star Parker are the outliers in today's black America. The law-abiding, decent people are the oddballs in that community as a whole. And that's a real shame.
It may take someone like Herman Cain ascending to the presidency with the courage to say "enough is enough" and get tough -- really tough. Sadly, I don't think any white person (maybe not even Sarah Palin) in that office dare touch the escalating issue of feral black youth.
That's evidenced even here on Free Republic. When a story like this garbs the headlines (as it does far too often), there's a rush to see who can be the first with "Must be the Amish". Even here on one of America's most un-PC of forums, we're reduced to speaking code.

RN, you're a compassionate and caring person, so I'll be gentle about this. The law-abiding, and decent people aren't the oddballs - they actually make up the bulk of the black community.
Perhaps a person would have to live there to see what I see, but I assure you that the hoodlums, punks, and criminals who make the headlines are the real minority among blacks. Most blacks are doing their best to get by, and live their lives the best way they know how. Some do better than others, and some do extremely well. Many others have fallen through the cracks, and are lost.
One thing that I will readily admit to, is the fact that a higher percentage of blacks have been degraded to the level of criminality and gov't dependency, than in other racial groups across the country. There's just no denying that.
The real outliers in the black community are conservatives, such as those people you named above. People of that caliber amount to about 8% of the black population.
If the country were in better condition, I might have enough free attention to take a hard look at the current state of the black community, and propose some solutions to what ails them. The short answer, of course, is that blacks (as a whole) would experience an exponential increase in their survival potential if lots more of them came over to our side. That's going to take a sustained campaign of enlightenment and education for that to occur. Thanks for the compliment. Much appreciated.
