TRIPOLI, Libya NATO rained scores of bombs on the Libyan capital in a rare daytime assault throughout Wednesday, but Moammar Gaddafi responded swiftly with a vow that his people would never surrender.
Huge explosions rattled windows and nerves across Tripoli during a bombardment that lasted from late morning to early evening. Jets buzzed overhead, and plumes of dark gray smoke billowed into the sky. The Libyan government said 60 bombs fell on the city, killing 29 people. Reporters in Tripoli counted about 35 explosions.
President Obama said that NATO had made significant progress during its campaign and that it was just a matter of time before Gaddafi was forced from power.
But Gaddafi phoned Libyan state television late in the afternoon to call his supporters onto the streets in their millions to show their defiance. We will not surrender, he said. We have only one choice, until the end: Victory or death, it doesnt matter.

Light at the end of the tunnel is an on coming train.
Speaking as an in-country Vietnam vet...how many years did we bomb the crap out of N. Vietnam? And who wound up winning the war?
It's not a tunnel, it's a coal mine, and the glow down the shaft is a fire.
I wonder how many women and children he was hiding behind while he was showing all this defiance?
I love the way it’s all “NATO does this” and “NATO does that,” not only in Libya, but also in Afghanistan. If there’s a victory—which is highly unlikely the way things are going—then Obama will smirk before the cameras and take credit for it.
Meantime, he has nothing to do with any of these three wars, or kinetic military actions, or whatever they are.
It wasn't that long ago the evening news was breathlessly telling us how many planes from each nation flew missions in support of the glorious U.N. resolution. Now, not so much.
Let’s see, bombing started March 18th, Obama said days not weeks and yet we are 1.5 weeks away from the 3rd month.
1. I don’t understand why Gaddaffi doesn’t have missiles trained on south Europe?
2. I am completely opposed to our American military being led by extra-legal organizations like NATO and the U.N.
3. Thus, when the Taliban attacked the U.N. aid (ha, the CIA) workers, I was in a quandary, wondering it’s better to have some malnourished imbecile sired by his half-brother, brandishing unreliable ordnance with a short supply of ammo shooting at our military halfway around the world, or blue-helmeted one-government New World Order robotic Terminators enforcing martial law funded by a shadowy cabal formed by the Rothschilds, Trilateral Commission, Saudi Arabian royalty, the Masons and the Illuminati effecting the Agenda 21 from New York City.
4. I’m torn.
Really? I heard this was all an ingenious plot by the cunning mastermind Obama to help al-Qaeda take over the middle east. It’s not?
Well, yes. But naturally he is not eager to go on national TV and explain that he really wants to be the Caliph of the new Muslim Caliphate.
Also, he prefers to stay out of it to avoid offending the Peaceniks any more than they already are. Many of them hate Obama at this point for his three wars—but they certainly won’t vote for a Republican. So the less they are stirred up, the better.
Either "he has nothing to do" with the war or he's the evil genius behind the war. You can't have it both ways.
It's clear to me that he never wanted this war and was dragged into it kicking and screaming. He probably didn't know about it until he read it on his teleprompter.
