CBS Poll: Most Republicans don't want Palin to run for president
CBS News ^ | 06/09/2011 | Brian Montopoli

CBS News Poll analysis by the CBS News Polling Unit: Sarah Dutton, Jennifer De Pinto, Fred Backus and Anthony Salvanto.

Most Republicans do not want to see former Alaska governor Sarah Palin enter the presidential race, a new CBS News poll finds.

Fifty-four percent of Republican registered voters want Palin to stay out of the race, as do 50 percent of Tea Party supporters. Just 34 percent of Republicans and 38 percent of Tea Party supporters want her to seek the Republican nomination. Overall, two-thirds of registered voters want Palin to stay out of the race.

Republicans are split on opinions of Palin overall: Thirty-seven percent have a favorable view, 36 percent have an unfavorable view, and 25 percent have no opinion. Her favorable rating among all voters, meanwhile, is just 21 percent, with 57 percent holding an unfavorable view.

The Republican presidential candidate with the highest net favorability rating among Republican voters is Mitt Romney, who has a 37 percent favorable rating and an 11 percent unfavorable rating. But despite Romney's relatively high profile, half say they don't know enough about him or have no opinion.

If it’s from cbs, you can take it to the bank. Or the compost pile, which ever happens to be closer. Your choice.

Will vote for Palin, Cain or Bachmann(depending on how she responds to the mind blowing idiocy of her campaign manager’s attack on Sarah). Will have to think long and hard about Santorum or Pawlenty before I can say.

But the rino retreads, not now, not ever.

“This poll was conducted among a random sample of 1,024 adults nationwide, interviewed by telephone June 3-7, 2011.”

“Adults”, not the more specific and accurate “likely voters”.

This is because most Republicans are RINOs.

Right on. Who cares what the republicans=(RINOs) think. I'm a conservative.

I received a donation request from the Tea Party. I replied: "I will donate to the candidate of my choice not yours, thank you.

Polling takes effort, time and money.

Only if the true results are wanted. The way CBS does it is suspect. Pick a number that fits your conclusion. (Falsify your numbers if you have to.)

Give your poll the rather treatment.

Go Sarah Palin

CNN’s Morgan Pierpont or whatever the limey’s name is, repeated the slander against Palin regarding her comments on Paul Revere — as if she got it wrong. And this was last night.

From waaaaay down at the bottom...
.
Total Respondents...1024.....UNWEIGHTED.....WEIGHTED
Total Registered Voters........894....................799
Total Republicans................310.....................329 (30%)
Total Democrats..................312.....................317 (30%)
Total Independents.............402....................378 (40%)

I could be wrong but is looks like they went way over on the Independents. Anyone know what the average percent of independent registered voters currently is?

This is a bovine scatology poll.  If you're a republican, you have an opinion.

"After one month of voting, the Results of the Townhall.com Sarah Palin Poll have been tabulated and released.

Since 2008, speculation of the former Alaska Governor and vice president nominee, Sarah Palin, would mount her own run for presidency. Many are excited at the possibilty of a Sarah Palin presidency, others think that she would play a more powerful role as an elder stateswoman for conservatisim.

Thanks for sharing your opinion in this Townhall.com poll! With over 46,000 votes counted, the results are:

LOL. These bottom-feeders sure do spend an amazing amount of time trying to dredge up stats on someone who’s not even in the race. Funny, that.

What were the chances of these results coming right after she took the lead?? How amazing.

She has the highest UNfavorables...accoding to this poll, anyway.

And you believe the network that tried their damnedest to destroy her, right out of the gate in 2008? Do the names Katie Couric or Dan Rather mean anything to you?

In a similar poll DNCBS found that Americans hate Palin’s guts nearly as much as CBS does.

And we trust CBS to correctly identify the party of the poll respondents?

All this means to me is that most Republicans don’t want more competition for their own favorites, esp. from someone that they know has a good chance to win the nomination. Bob

What is “president”? I thought it was “President”...

IIRC, if it refers to a particular president by name, or spells out the full title, President of the United States, it is capitalized. Not so with running for president, or "the president said...".

Your mileage may vary. Corrections gracefully considered.
