The bottom line is that it made sense for Alaskans to support taxing the bejeebers out of oil companies. The fact that it would increase the cost of petroleum products was not an Alaskan problem.

ACES is an excellent law. Sarah is proud of it as she should be.

Tell that to the Palin Protectorate already calling the OP “troll” and “DUmmie”. They don’t stop to read the article - they just read a few words and start attacking.

They already know the history. Its the poster that doesn't understand that what she did was the correct action. Apparently you don't either.

Well, I'd say that was a GOOD move in the sense that by agreeing with the Dems she got her proposed tax on the oil companies and even MORE than she asked for ...ALL of which went into the state of Alaska coffers and its people.

IMO, I'd say that's GOOD politics in terms of SERVING the People NOT big oil.

I guess I don’t see the issue here...

The oil belongs to the state of Alaska and the people of Alaska. If the oil companies want to drill it and sell it on the open market, then cant Alaska ask whatever price it wants for it’s oil? This is exactly the way it should be.

But if this article would be about another R governor, FReepers would be jumping all over him/her, as “unacceptable RINO”.

This is one of the hallmark symptoms of someone suffering from PDS.

The proof that this is not an issue that Conservatives should be concerned with has been posted on this thread and many multiple times on FreeRepublic.

Yet you run right past that and straight to the crappy "Saint" Sarah meme and her crazy supporters by implication.

If you are not going to deal in facts or logic, and then you are going to parrot the Left-wing Press and other assorted looney-tune characters, why don't you stick to posting on non-Sarah threads.

Your contribution to the discussion concerning Sarah is worthless.

No, actually is is No negative comments that cannot be backed up by facts and logic.

And those posters that post comments that are purposefully lacking in both should expect to get a response.

“This is a tough one because most of the land there is federal land so the principle comes down to should the government be a revenue generating business or should the revenues made on federal land be returned to the taxpayers.”

As I understand it, the federal government owned land in Alaska does not carry with it the mineral rights. They are reserved to the state.
