Trump should run a Democrat primary challenge against Obama and debate him one-on-one. If Trump loses the nomination to Obama, he can still run as an independent, which he is currently threatening to do.
Waiting for a Republican to win the nomination before debating Obama is waiting too long.

I like this idea! Trump can run as a Reagan democrat, and get Obama thoroughly soiled and on the ropes before the republican nomination! And trump can drop out when he’s done bloodying the faygalah.
