WASHINGTON — Representative Anthony D. Weiner has told friends that he plans to resign his seat after coming under growing pressure from his Democratic colleagues to leave the House in the wake of revelations of his lewd online exchanges with women, said a person told of Mr. Weiner’s plans.
The news comes as Democratic leaders prepared to hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss whether to strip the 46-year-old Congressman of his committee assignments, a blow which would severely damage his effectiveness.

Rest assured, he’s got something lined up—in addition to the inevitable book and movie deals. Remember, he’s a protege of Chuck-U Schumer; he’s spend his entire adult life slopping at the public trough and won’t resign without some sort of guarantee in his back pocket. He won’t land at the DNC, but there are plenty of Democratic think tanks and lobbying outfits who will give him a job later this year, after the public furor dies down and his stint in rehab is complete.
And, he’ll start collecting a full Congressional pension (plus healthcare benefits) in only 16 years, when he turns 62.
And you have hit the nail on the head. Exactly. I’ve often wondered about these kinds of things becuase sometimes it’s just unimaginable that one person or another would vote a certain way when you know darn well and good that vote is WRONG, doesn’t make sense and totally goes against the American way of life. I’ve often felt that so many people in that sewer of DC have so many things on so many others. I would LOVE just ONE TIME for someone to schedule a news conference... unbeknownst to anyone else until the time it is held and to stand tall, admit doing something wrong saying they just can’t go forward knowing this and not admitting to it. Also WITHOUT their wives standing beside being humiliated over and over again.
I think perhaps this country is speaking out more now and that’s as it should be. We need to make these people responsible for their actions as we all know actions have consequences.
Who is Weiner or anyone else in power to do something so despicable and then able to RESIGN at HIS/HER own convenience? If my husband or anyone else’s husband or wife had done things like this on the job he/she would have been investigated by the company and FIRED! No OPTIONS to resign.
Why are these “employees of the American people” so far above the laws that the rest of us live by? They are not anything special. They WORK FOR US. They REPRESENT us. That’s ALL!!! They are no better than me or mine nor you and yours. All the time Weiner spent in these sordid activities should have been put into working for the people instead.
I dont’ care who it is...what party you are or how great you are doing y our job. If you can’t do your job the way you are supposed to do it and you bring disgrace upon your office, your family and deceive the very people who put you in office then you don’t DESERVE to represent the American people. Citizens that have jobs are out there every day getting up...doing what is expected of them to do and living their lives properly. Others don’t even HAVE jobs and this dude not only has a job making PLENTY of money (which they always want to take away from everyone else by the way) and at the same time he’s behaving in this lewd, disgusting manner and thinking he is above the rest of us. Calling a CNN journalist a Jackass knowing all along he was guilty. Lying eye to eye with Bret Bair saying they were trying to find out where this came from etc...out and out lying eye to eye lying to a respected journalist knowing full well the photo was of him and that he sent it. That’s the ARROGANCE when you somehow think you are so far above everyone else that you lie and behave in manners so low.
I DO hope he gets the help he needs but I’m glad he will resign IF the headlines are true. He is a sick individual and he needs to own up to it and walk away with whatever dignity he might have left. In the meantime, we ... the American people do not deserve to have this kind of disgust and deception thrown at us no matter what party one is from. Because one party or the other do it doesn’t make it right and no matter WHO does it ...they should be out of office PERIOD!!!
That’s my rant for the day. I’m glad everyone is speaking out...it’s about time not only in this but in other things as well. I hope people continue to speak out and speak up. When one is pushed...PUSH BACK! Stop buckling. It’s not about one party or the other. It is about our country and how people are trying to bring her down. There has been too much blood shed to keep us and our people free and our business is to protect our freedoms, work hard, stand up for yourself, stop expecting government to do things for us.
We need to take care of our own children, teach them at home...instill our values, beliefs and sense of history and let them know how many died so we could live and be free. Don’t depend on the government to do THAT for them cause that’ll never happen.
Government needs to get their noses out of peoples homes, lives, schools and work. That’s the trouble...they think they are smarter than us well...they are WRONG. There will NEVER be anyone smarter than the citizenry to know what is right for them and their families. The arrogance of politics is out of line and those in DC are NOT the do all, be all of the rest of us. We can and will think for ourselves. We can and will feed our families the way WE think and know is best. We do not need outside forces telling us what to eat, how to eat, how much to eat or how to live...I expect we know more than those trying to tell us all of the above anyway and we always have.
Good ole American instincts and ingenuity. Mothers and Fathers passing down how to raise their children from their own experiences that were handed down to them from their parents and it goes on and on.
Thank God for this beautiful country. We have it all. Why would we want to ever be like anyone else? We have the freedoms to do and be anything we want to be. We don’t need government telling us what we should do. So, I hope this Weiner event will show that those in office are NOT above the law. If they do things like this fire them just like we would be fired. Plain and simple. Enough is enough.
Thank you for listening. I am just so fed up with all of this nonsense coming out of our elected officials and I want every single one of them held to a higher standard instead ofa allowing them to do and get away with things that are just nor right.

All I was trying to say on this thread is that he is very sick and he’e either feeling no shame or a ton of shame and sometimes people who are sick with a ton of shame do very stupid things to themselves. If he can’t live with this and does something stupid, people who have gone overboard with the jokes and piling on are going to feel bad. He’s resigning so I think it’s time to cool it with the jokes and focus on the important things like defeating Obama.

So, he’s decided not to stick it out (after previously sticking it out).
-He doesn’t have any money and he has lost his power.
-He doesn’t have a job and he has lost all of the perks.
-Soon, all access to the power players will dry up.
-It’s doubtful that he will find a job.
-His support group has bailed on him.
-His wife will likely dump him.
-His self worth and life dreams have been destroyed.
-He will see himself as a complete failure.
-All that he had is now gone and he sees nothing in his future.
-He will quickly be completely alone.
Weiner will soon have a taste of what nearly 20 million unemployed Americans have been forced to live with, all thanks to Obama and the democrats, just like himself. Those Americans have my sympathy, he does not.
My bet is that this perverted loser will soon commit suicide.
