White House political maestro Karl Rove urged money and other forms of support for Republican congressional candidate Michele Bachmann at a Stillwater fundraiser Friday. The Bachmann fundraiser at the Water Street Inn in Stillwater attracted about 60 supporters, who paid $250 for lunch. Couples who contributed $1,000 to Bachmann could have their pictures taken with Rove. The Bachmann campaign did not immediately release the total amount raised.

MB has been endorsed by NY Times,Wash Post, the entire msnbc network including Rachel Maddow...Your candidate is supported by the NY Times etc, how can you sleep
While it`s true MSM attacked Bachmann in the past, Now they are all endorsing her. Just in case you missed that :)
5 year old article and Bush/Rove were the leaders of the GOP then.
Some people really are trolling and desperate.
” This makes me second guess my support for Bachman. “ =====
Well of course it would. Bachman has to aim above the bots in the base to hope for a win in Iowa. She is aiming for a win, not a massage from the choir. We elect no one—the Independents will and she will be going after them.
Now I understand...
I don’t vote for rinos...
I don’t see any value at all of a Bachmann VP slot. She’s a House member with just small sliver of Minnesota that votes for her. She is unlikely to make a difference in that statewide election, and really doesn’t bring much experience to the ticket as a middle-bench non-leadership third termer. I like her plenty, but I don’t see why a candidate Romney wouldn’t choose a key governor from a swing state or someone with foreign policy or military background. Bachmann does serve on good committees, but not for that long to bring years of valuable experience.
You THINK Iraq? Think again. Kuwait was 2008 and most of the rest were the same trip just this March.
How about visiting the UK and seeing David Cameron, how about going to see Sarkozy in France? Neither one seems thrilled with the current moron in chief, good press that would have been.
MANY future candidates have written books on foreign policy, but the point is she needed to get political cover for her perceived weakness! We already knew she loved Alaska and fishing, okay? SHE needed to show people her seriousness and determination. She didn't.
Again, I like her, I was rooting for her to succeed, but I'm disappointed in the way she's spent her time. I think it's a fair criticism.
This might be relevant if she was inviting Rove to campaign for her today. It isn’t relevant when she took his help as first-timer running for office.
True.
I am following you on that matter and understand the media are now pumping her up.
In the past they took some shots at her that raised her into national prominence from obscurity.
JUST BECAUSE A REPUBLICAN GETS BEAT UP BY THE MEDIA DOES NOT MAKE THEM A CONSERVATIVE OR “TEA PARTY.”
Sometimes the moderates like the Bushes relish a fight with the media to give them “victim” status and sympathy from those of us out here in the grassroots.
This is ancient. Until very recently most conservatives were still parroting that Tokyo Rove was “The Architect”, and a “Magnificent Bastard”.
As of a few days ago I am no longer a Bachmann supporter, but this is really irrelevant to what is going on now.
Big Time. First she allows her talking attack dog to belittle her staunchest supporter on national TV, and then she cozies up to the ruling class establishment (and Mitt) via Karl Rove.
I hate to say it, but I saw this in her eyes, months ago. Even then, something about her just came across wrong to me, but I was having trouble putting my finger on it.
It's pretty clear now, what I saw. It's called betrayal.
So it is. Apparently, Michele has been owned by the ruling class establishment from the very beginning of her career in Washington.
I'm sure when she was first running in 2006, she was looking for any help she could get from anyone of any prominence with Republican party.
Not many Republican challengers wouldn't have welcomed Rove back in 2006.
If she hadn't welcomed Rove in 2006 as Republican challenger, I would have questioned her judgment.
No challenged with brain would have turned down Rove's help in that scenario.
Au contraire, mon frere! I think it says a LOT about who and what is pulling Bachmann's strings right now.
It seems pretty obvious to me, that she owes Karl Rove from way back. Looks to me like she's buckling to pressure from him to play the pawn in his grand strategy to kill Sarah Palin's potential presidential run, and to get Mittens elected.
Thank you, RS for posting this very important historical linkage between Bachmann and Rove.
Oh, for the love of all that is good, now bachmann’s a RINO? This has reached a new level of absurdity.
I have come to the conclusion that once you get past the fiery rhetoric there just isn't much there, there.
As crass as it sounds if she had a real record of accomplishment she wouldn't have to constantly remind people of her 23 foster children. IMO, that should have stayed a nice back story. It should not have made it to the front page of her resume. I believe she is exploiting that experience and is the last straw.

Not at all, my good FRiend. I think this article points out an important historical linkage between Bachmann and Rove, which may now be greatly influencing her activities, with regards to the current election.
I'm very glad that RED SOUTH posted it. It explains much about what Bachmann is doing, and why she's doing it.
Then, why did Rove recently say she was too inexperienced to President?

"The people who are going to be disposed to vote against Barack Obama are going to look back and say 'You know what, we took the untested guy who had no significant achievements, and it didn't work out so well'.
So Michele Bachmann and others who've not had extensive records -- I mean, Ronald Reagan was the governor of the most populous state in the union.... he had a record as an executive who made big decisions.
And next year, it's going to be important for people to say 'You can look at my background and look at what I've done in my life, and have confidence that I'm going to be able to do the things that I'm saying I want to do. Because last time around, we took hope and change and it didn't work out so well for a lot of people."
Ugh, and I was starting to warm up to Bachman.
WTF?
Karl Rove nearly single-handedly destroyed Christine O'Donnell's chances of winning that election!
She visited the Khabari Alawazem Crossing at the KuwaitIraq border.
Excuse me but you said : Governor Palin should have spent the last three years traveling the world Now you want to move the goalposts? No.
She has been. Now you name another Presidential hopefull that has done the same.
How about visiting the UK and seeing David Cameron
She IS going to England. That's been posted on FR and I also told you.
MANY future candidates have written books on foreign policy
Name them. Name candidates that have written policy books and name where they traveled before running.
Uh, no . . . Christine O’Donnell did a fine job of it herself. She didn’t need any help.
Maybe we can start posting five year old articles from when Palin supported the bridge to nowhere.
Who else did Rove campaign for......in 2000?!? In 2002??! We need to know!!!
No need to apologize. This article may be old, but it's important, because it reveals a tie between Bachmann and Rove that most of us were completely unaware of.
He's calling in a political favor to push his favored candidate (Romney) to the top. This is why Bachmann has remained silent after what Rollins said about Sarah.
I'm afraid that Bachmann's personal integrity was compromised from the very start of her political career. The article fills in a blank that finally makes sense of some mysterious goings-on.
Wow, it’s like Pavlov’s dogs here these days.
Bachmann has an outstanding record. She is a fighter, and one of the few in DC with the gravitas to buck the establishment and stand strong on conservative issues.
She is not my first choice for President, but I seriously wonder about people calling themselves conservatives who are so disparaging against those fighting the good fight.
I thought we are supposed to be supporting conservative principles not just personalities and in that we are on the SAME TEAM.
Sheesh.
At least post something more recent.
Here's Bachmann supporting Boehner and his pathetic budget deal.
And what should the rest of the potential candidates have been doing in the same time? Where are their books on foreign policy?
Oh my. He actually uncovered Michele Bachmann's umbilical cord to Karl Rove. Naughty Freeper!
WTF?
Karl Rove nearly single-handedly destroyed Christine O’Donnell’s chances of winning that election!
******************************
The establishment mask slipped then, and revealed a very malignant and treacherous face.
I’m right there with ya, bean.
That, or he saw her as a loon.
My friend, if you don't see the strong potential for undue influence over a potential presidential candidate in this article, then you've got blinders on.
Bachmann owes the very existence of her political career to Karl Rove.
She nixed the bridge when she became Governor. That bridge was a Murkowski deal.
Rita, I know that Sarah is making you crazy with waiting, but please. Sarah’s got plenty of time to declare a run for office. The fact is, she’s not late - the rest of the field is early.
I really hope somebody digs something up on you from 5 years back, and proceeds to slam you because of it.
It is sad to see Freepers going off of the deep end on a 5-year old article. Good grief...get a grip!
Oh, and if you think you can do it better, why don’t you get out their and run. I’m sure there would be many who could dig up some type of dirt on you from five or six years ago.
This lady has made a couple of mistakes, but good grief folks...these people are human beings! If you guys are waiting for a perfect person, you’re going to be waiting a long time. Remember your demand for perfection the next time you fu*k something up.
Certainly not to early for the circular firing squads, however.
uh no....she was for the bridge before she was against it.

Name one of the current Republican candidates who's written a book on foreign policy, or who has traveled as extensively to foreign countries in the last two years, as Sarah Palin has.
Your criticism is baseless, and you set an artificial high bar for Palin that you DON'T apply to any other candidate.
Don't forget to list those books!
“I thought we are supposed to be supporting conservative principles not just personalities and in that we are on the SAME TEAM.”
‘Fraid not...
Actually, it was the classless Bachmann campaign that fired the first shots.
My, my, my. That is some serious political naivete. Rove made Bachmann's political career. Do you not understand that he practically OWNS her?
Now, if you actually believe that, I have some swamp land I'd like to show you. As for other candidates writing books, ah, well, Newt Gingrich for one, John Kennedy, Al Gore, Garry Hart, George W. Bush... shall I go on? these are just off the top of my head. I mean, she wrote a book, but why not a serious study of foreign policy? THAT would have helped her tremendously.
She supported it marginally when she ran for office in 2006. She became Governor In December 2006 and nixed the bridge in March or April of 2007.
What you posted was a hit piece. And there were PLENTY of them.
And the countries they've traveled to! Don't forget the countries! LOL
