Newt's one-man RLC show
Politico ^ | 06/16/11 | JONATHAN MARTIN

No longer constrained by campaign advisers who insisted on such conventions as “message discipline,” Gingrich fulminated against President Obama, the news media, activist judges and assorted other liberal bogeymen for 41 minutes here Thursday night.

It was classic Newt – slashing attacks, an array of ideas, and a few plugs for his website. All jumbled together with little cohesion.

The former speaker, it seems, is very much enjoying the post-consultant phase of his candidacy.

This is complete BS. Newt’s answers were excellent. (although.....30 seconds for anyone debating serious topics is flat out ridiculous). No one paying attention to Gingrich can deny.....Newt has been actively involved in solving/addressing many problems since the 2008 election. What has any other candidate done since then? Newt has done more to address & solve the country’s problems than all the other candidates COMBINED. Don’t dismiss Newt because the media thinks you should.

9YearLurker..... who do you support?

AFAIC, Newt and the boys wrote themselves off when the broke eht Contract w/America.

That in no sense of the word was concervativsm, but I thought it woas a good start. The Repubukes will NEVER get a penny from me. And, hell no, the Demlicrates will never recieve a fraction of that.

The only difference betwixt the two parties: Republicrans just wait a little bit longer before selling us out. They proved that with the Chinagate approvals.

They can both go to hell as far as I'm concerned.

"that's a good start..."

That's really a marginal start- you left out EPA, BATFE, TSA, DOJ, FDA, Fed Reserve, IRS, DOEd, DOEnergy, HHS, FannieMae, Freddie MAC, Dept of Commerce, and AMtrack. Homeland Security, CIA, CDC, SEC, Border Patrol, ICE, need to be reorganized. Now, THAT's a fair start!

Yeah? What the hell is that s'poda mean? If you believe Newt is the epitome of conservatism then perhaps the problem is that you worked at a mental hospital.

Don't even get me started.

We are SO doomed we don't even know the meaning of the term 'doom'.

We have a lot of people on this board who can bandyu about epithets on this board though. As if that counts for something...

Supporting Scozzafava didn’t fix anything.

Newt just likes to listen to himself talk, he was forced into retirement by Clinton, who Gingrich was no match for.

"Newt has been actively involved in solving/addressing many problems since the 2008 election"

It was the loss of the House in 2006 that sent Newt to the grassroots.

Newt may not be the candidate, but his organizations had as much to do with the 2010 election as the Tea Party (with which most of his people gladly associate) and will in 2012.

I’ve seen that picture a zillion times, and to me it always looks more like Beau Bridges than William Shatner.

As a leader, Newt passed 9 of 10 items in the original Contract with America. He was more conservative than Ronald Regan. Newt si the reason Bill Clinton looked good. In the last decade, he has made a few comments that might raise some eyebrows, and an endorsement (Scozzafava) gone awry, but his presidental platform is everything consevatives crave. He lays it out in a way that people understand and enthusiastically support. He does it all without a teleprompter, and without being coached what to say. Newt is the real deal. I’m guessing you believe everything bad the media says about Gingrich?

I like Palin. She is right on the issues, but has little depth. She also can be slightly irritating. Can you imagine lightweight Katie Couric stumping Newt Gingrich?

All I’m saying is let it play out, and listen to what Newt has to say. Don’t believe a word the media says..... use your own intincts.

Palin..... right on issues, but like Cain..... lacking the depth. If you disagree, picture Newt and Palin on stage discussing a topic..... any topic..... for 2 hours straight. The lack of knowledge, understanding, and experience would be clearly evident. She might even pull out a pad & pencil, and start taking notes.

I want conservative leadership on all issues.

I don't want someone who can quote a dictionary or encyclopedia, that is worthless for the position of POTUS.

I certainly don't want somebody who believes he has to move to the center to win.

I don't want somebody who dallies with want is perceived to be popular, such as Global Warming.

I don't want someone who supports extreme left-wing candidates like Scozzafazza.

I don't want someone who thinks we can't stay with Reagan Conservatism.

I want true, principled leadership.

I get that with Palin in spades.

I get mush with Newt.

"How can you NOT be a Newt Gingrich fanboy (or girl)? "

Sorry- That dog won't hunt. Newt is as dead in the water as Weiner. He, like Weiner before Thursday, doesn't even know it yet.

Newt failed as Speaker, why should I think he’d do any better as President? His problems have never been his intellect it’s his character.

Newt is a layabout that hasn’t done anything in 17 years, please make him go away.

He is a Republican Bill Clinton, except with less influence, and effectiveness, and evidently with less usable intelligence.

What? "As a leader, Newt passed 9 of the 10 items of the original Contract With America?"

They broke the Contract. You see that punctuation mark the end of that sentance? As a result I will never support republicrats.
