“He has a job. Is he supposed to leave his dog in the house all day to accommodate his neighbor’s dog loose on his property?”

That single sentence illustrates your total lack of reason and/or logic.

By your own statement, he left the bitch unprotected or poorly protected and went to work.

“He has a job. Is he supposed to leave his dog in the house all day to accommodate his neighbor’s dog loose on his property?”

Another stupid statement. He is supposed to do whatever is required to keep the bitch from coming in contact with a dog. If that means locking her in the house, so be it.

What else needs to be said?

Only that Hooter was not the only dog in the world. He just happened to get there first.

The two residences were adjacent to each other, according to the news. That means that Hooter could smell the bitch. Nothing short of chaining him to a tree would prevent him from trying to get to her.

If you owned dogs for 20+ years and learned nothing from it, there is nothing more that I can say.

I got my first pet dog in 1938.

Beginning in 1957, I owned and still own a pack of hunting hounds. I have had as few as 15 and as many as 35 for the ensuing 54 years.

I think that I am entitled to my opinion as to how bitches in season should be managed. I have had probably 150 to 175 bitches during that period.

He who does not keep bitches in season in a manner that is totally impossibly unaccessible to dogs is an idiot.

Further, on that rare occasion when one does not recognize that the bitch is coming in season or on that occasion when the bitch escapes her enclosure, one must accept the responsibility, admit to having made a mistake and take responsibility for it.

I have written enough. I will waste no more time on you.

And, I’d be standing across the street swearing on a stack of Bibles that your story was the truth, the WHOLE truth and nothing but the truth.

Well, maybe so, my oldest dog was whelped in 2000 and I wasn't really paying attention before 2006 when I purchased a female with an eye to breeding.

But the whole idea is nonsense from a scientific point of view and easily refutable. Not to mention that AKC can't possibly enforce it because there would be no way to tell that a bitch had had a mixed-breed litter at some previous time.

Unless some idiot was trying to sell them as purebreds. THEN the AKC might bar the breeder. I have seen a couple of people barred by AKC, but for misconduct in the ring, not breeding issues.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

That is how these clowens beat the system.

Yes, total nonsense.

As if the AKC even CARES enough to worry about whether its registered dogs have only bred pure. There are lots of things more important the AKC doesn’t care about.

After all, way back in 1983 my family was offered a “pure” German Shepherd puppy litter to look over, with brazenly admitted daddy there too. Daddy was NOT purebred Shepherd, for sure, but they had AKC papers nonetheless!!!

Letting an unspayed male roam around and get unspayed females pregnant is irresponsible. There are enough unwanted animals in this world.

I agree 100%. I used to only spay my females but now both sexes get fixed. So many poor unwanted animals. Joplin Humane Society - this Saturday is actually giving 600 animals away, free and spayed or neutered free. They have 700 but some are injured and some are too young. They used to charge $75 and give you a coupon for $45 off a spay or neuter. Course so many of these are unclaimed/unwanted after the tornado or their 'parents' died in the tornado or they owners just are no longer able to take care of them with no housing, no fenced yards, etc.

If she didn’t want the dog shot she should have neutered or restrained him. She chose to do neither

"Back in the day" they never spayed or neutered, neither did we even take our animals to the vet. The woman was 70 years old. I'm sure it never occurred to her to neuter a male dog. Even after I was into adulthood, no one took their dogs to the vet. Now, everyone takes them. Past few dogs have been 'free - rescue dogs', spent tons of money clearing worms, giardia, getting spayed. Like my vet says 'there are no free dogs anymore'.
