Judging from his latest 7,000-word rant in Rolling Stone titled, "Climate of Denial: Can science and the truth withstand the merchants of poison?" Al Gore lives on another planet.
One where, he complains, the media, especially television, are in cahoots with the "merchants of poison" (Big Coal, Big Oil) to deny the truth about global warming.
This would be the same media that uncritically fawned over his 2006 film, An Inconvenient Truth -- which was over-hyped climate porn -- turning it into one of the most successful "documentaries" of all time and winning Gore the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize and an Academy Award.
And yet, wails Gore, the media aren't framing the climate debate correctly as a "struggle for the soul of America" between "Science and Reason" in one corner and "Poisonous Polluters and Right-wing Ideologues" in the other.
Gore's attitude, typical of the totalitarian streak in the liberal left, is there's one "correct" position -- his -- and everyone else is a fraud, charlatan or in the pay of the oil industry.
Even his erstwhile climate ally, U.S. President Barack Obama, falls short in Gore's witheringly critical view of all present and past politicians, other than himself.
While eminently preferable to the Republicans, Gore laments:
"President Obama has never presented to the American people the magnitude of the climate crisis. He has simply not made the case for action. He has not defended the science against the ongoing withering and dishonest attacks. Nor has he provided a presidential venue for the scientific community -- including our own National Academy -- to bring the reality of science before the public."
Again, one can only assume Gore lives on another planet.
Obama's problem isn't he hasn't tried, for better or worse, to convince Americans of the magnitude of the climate crisis.
It's that his efforts are stalled in a U.S. Congress where politicians are pre-occupied with the cratering U.S. economy rather than putting a price on carbon dioxide emissions.
Which raises the question of why, if Gore really believes global warming poses an imminent, existential threat to humanity, he doesn't return to politics, rather than preaching to the converted in Rolling Stone?
If Gore believes, as he writes, "the United States is the only nation that can rally a global effort to save our future and the president is the only person who can rally the United States," why did he duck out of the 2008 presidential race? Why is he on the sidelines now?
Does he fear criticism from environmentalists like Frank O'Donnell, president of Clean Air Watch, who told politico.com in response to Gore's Rolling Stone diatribe: "Gore has exactly the right message, but he is a flawed messenger given he ducked the climate issue when he ran for president in 2000"? (Ouch!)
Is it because he could no longer simply make self-righteous proclamations and would actually have to convince ordinary Americans of the wisdom of paying higher prices for everything in the middle of a devastating economic downturn?
Or is it because Gore, described by the The Telegraph in 2009 as potentially "the world's first carbon billionaire" enjoys making money too much from the climate change industry he helped to spawn, while jet-setting around the world leaving a Godzilla-sized carbon footprint in his wake?
It’s a good thing he bought that multi-million dollar mansion on the beach in California. Otherwise he would be turning more lights on in his mansions in Tennessee.
Is that sex crazed poodle still on his Global Warming kick? The guys is a running joke.
Earth to aGore: Your ship has sailed. Get a new one.
He tried to get the carbon credit market going with his scare speeches and his affiliation with vulture capitalists. But, an economic downturn, global warming fraud, and a growing realization that surrendering your freedom and wealth does not truly translate into climate “healing” cooled the public’s ardor for aGore’s wooing.
Find another crisis.
Gore may be the world's biggest fraud, but he's not stupid. Far from it. He'd have to be a complete fool to give up the great gig he has now to go back to politics. Does anyone remember those hilarious photos of Hillary sitting in the Senate looking like death warmed over? Ha! Gore knows better.
Poor Algore. He’s trying everything and anything to get Global Warming II - The Hoax fired up. He’s got mansions to pay for! LOL!
Global Warming guru Algore wearing his ever present Nobel medal is seen here en-route to an important scientific conference in Nassau hosted by the UN/IPCC where he was to be the keynote speaker.
Topics on the agenda were to have included Finding a Good Bail Bondsman, Not ALL Criminal Lawyers Are Sharks, Changing Careers for Dummies, You Want Fries With That?, How To Encrypt Emails, The Best Prison Jobs, Getting Along With Your Cellmate and Getting Used to Sleeping On Your Back.
A sudden and unfortunate blast of what the scientist in charge of the conference termed global warming caused the meeting to be rescheduled until Algore can be thawed some time next Spring assuming there will BE one.
Our reporter has learned that the influential conservative web site Free Republic has launched a contribution drive to rent a freezer locker in which to keep Gore for the 10 to 15 years estimated it will take for the so-called mainstream media to begin covering the Climategate story.
Or is it because Gore, described by the The Telegraph in 2009 as potentially "the world's first carbon billionaire"
Goe did NOT win an Oscar. The producers of his climate/science-fiction/porno slide show won the Oscar.
Gore was told NOT to run up on stage. He ran up on stage, grabbed one of the Oscars, waved it around, etc. Reportedly, he even absconded with the Oscar, and may have it at home.
Me thinks he doth protest too much.
What a hilarious quote! Al is such a big chicken he refuses to have a debate with anyone about global warming, but he feels free to excoriate Obama for "not defending the science"? Bwaaahahaha!! Hello! Pot, meet kettle!
Who’s Al Gore and why should we listen to him?
I think I’ll go watch reruns on the Weather Channel instead of reading his paranoid dream.
The shtick of a one trick pony!
It’s so comforting we’ve got Owl Gore to protect us from all that poison. He’s our protector and he would never take a penny from those evil purveyors of poison.
