Peoria has certainly declined over the past 10-12 years. The house I grew up in is not essentially located in a ghetto. Peoria is the epitome of white flight out of the city...not even the inner city, but what used to be nice middle class neighborhoods. The taxes are off the hook and the schools are downright scary. Not the city I knew as a child.

The place my dad grew up in Peoria, near Fredonia, is definitely a ghetto. We lived way outside of town near the airport off of Farmington Rd between Pleasant Valley and Norwood.

I grew up near Forrest Hill & Knoxville. It was full of nice middle class neighborhoods. Now it’s a cesspool.

Wow! I also grew up in the same area! I even know the guy behind the Peoria Chronicle and have met Mr. Wilkinson.
