Both Carter and Obama came to office because of failed Republican administrations. For Carter it was Nixon/Ford and for Obama it was Bush’s second term, which with the GOP Congress was a disgusting mess. In both elections the GOP fielded Elitist approved candidates. The Go-along get-along, stay- the - course, Reach across the aisle types when Americans want a change from that. When a people are spiritually hungry even the cheap hash Carter and Obama were dishing out sounded better then the bland cold peas porridge the GOP was offering up.

“which with the GOP Congress was a disgusting mess.......”

Sorry Charlie, in 2006 the Democrats won a huge majority in both the House and the Senate, and in 2008 won super-majorities in both chambers of Congress....The sorry state of the United States lays at the feet of Reid and Pelosi from 2007 on till 2011.....

....just as the roaring 1990’s, from 1994 till 2001 lies at the feet of the Republican Congress led by Gingrich and Lott........ Clinton, busy chasing interns and other strange stuff had little to nothing to do with it.......

Obama is an epic failure, but let’s not forget that the US Congress has a larger impact on the final policies of the Government.......

Despite the popular focus on the presidency, our best interest lies in electing “Big C” Conservatives into the national legislature.....JMHO.

And then part of Obama’s appeal was the historic candidacy of the first serious black candidate to run for president. Plus he was said to be so eloquent and charismatic. I never perceived it, but lots of people did. Such hokey speeches about stopping the rise of the oceans and allowing the planet to heal may not have the same effect in 2012.
