I have been invited to give a talk tomorrow at the Hillsdale Colleges Kirby Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship, a D.C.-based civic-education program. The title of the talk is A Citizens Guide to Understanding the Debt Ceiling Debate.
With August 2 now looming, I will explain whether that date matters, what it means, and whats at stake. How is a citizen to get beyond all of the brinksmanship? Will we default? Can we do anything about it? What might real statesmanship suggest for a course of action? How do constitutional considerations factor into this important debate?

The point is simple:
If they raise the debt the dollar will loose value. Oil and food will cost more. Raising the debt is a code for printing more money. If they printed more Babe Ruth trading cards almost anyone would expect that those already in collectors hands would loose value.
We should raise the debt ceiling. Let’s default on even MORE Debt!!!!
Hillsdale is one of the few places to go if you want the real scoop.
