Second, only people from Canada or Britain, or who are conservative, spell "favorite" like you did. You're either a Canuck, a Brit, or a numbskull conservative... but we knew that.

There...fixed it for you, since you don't seem to have a very deep or long-term understanding of American conservatism.

I agree. That’s a horrible picture of her.

They also messed around with the shadows on her sweatshirt. They lightened the top AND lightened around the buttons.

The other pictures posted have been done up pretty well. Especially the more “formal” portraits.

The only one on this thread not worked on is the one on the carrier.

And the Hillary picture is completely wrecked. I like it, but it sure isn’t fair. Someone spent some time making that look as bad as possible.

Yes, sometimes we do that for fun...but we usually don’t publish them.

AND, 99% of the time Magazines do this stuff with the picture. The photographers don’t do it, the designers do. When you see “wire” photos, those are usually untouched, or touched slightly—general brightening, etc.

Photojournalists do not touch up at all. Its just one of those rules.

A shetland pony should be able to win against Obama.

I really don't think this is true. A populace who can elect Obama can very easily re-elect him. I think (though I hope I'm wrong), it'll be much more difficult than we think it will be to oust that guy.

"I can win ---" - Sarah Palin"

Of course Palin can win. But frankly, I'm tired of looking at photos of Sarah Palin as a beautiful, sexy, diva. It does not help her to win anything, except for the biological "affections" of the horny. I like Sarah Palin, her courage, spirit and love of America. But a little more brilliant, inspiring, politically savvy conversation and a little less "cover girl" stuff would help her a lot. I think of other capable and successful female leaders, like Margaret Thatcher, Michelle Bachman, (who's also very pretty but attires herself conservatively, not as a 'diva'), and Germany's Angela Merkel. Palin also needs to take very seriously her voice tone and her 'hyper' style of speaking when giving speeches, she needs vocal practice, (just like successful singers and actors do), and some adjustments to her whiney sounding voice. Also, she often shouts when she need not to. Think of Reagan, and his perpetual calm and cool voice, with a great sense of humor.

All that said, Palin would probably make a very good President, especially if she surrounded herself with some highly competent advisors and Cabinet members, who are also TRUSTWORTHY, and not out to write a book about Palin after quitting 18 months into their post. Palin has her heart in the right place, and she's strong and a natural fighter. I love her faith and her loyalty to Todd and family, and to our Constitution. But when going head-to-head with an experienced President, (which Obama will be by then), who has a deep, manly voice and speaks with authority, and who has the media on his side, who will have an endless supply of money, and who will pull every filthy, rotten, stinkinig trick in the book, (including getting hundreds of thousands, or millions, of illegal votes), I think Sarah will have a very difficult time of going head to head with Obama and winning the debates thoroughly enough to take him down. Though I hate the Communist Obama's every policy, and detest his arrogance, it's going to take a strong, highly capable man to beat him, due to the above advantages he will use to the hilt. (Hell, already Warren Buffet is extolling the economic abilities of Obama, and he'll get many more such significant endorsements too.

I'd like to see a Pawlenty / Palin ticket, or a Rick Perry/Palin ticket, or a Santoram/ Palin ticket, with Palin as VP. (or possibly replace Palin with Bachman as VP with those men).

Obama is eminently beatable, he's like a powerhouse baseball team who has won the previous World Series, but who has suffered the loss of their Ace pitcher and their best run producer during the off season. He's limping, and he's beatable.

It will take $200mil to win the GOP nomination and another $800mil to win the general.

Not sure I agree about the primary, but with Obama's fundraising ability, it will take $800m or more for the general.

Romney is no more than the "conventional wisdom" favorite at this point.

No doubt. All we have to go on are the polls, fundraising, favourable ratings, intensity ratings, etc., and from those numbers, I can only conclude Romney is the favourite, because I don't have any inside information: no internal polling data or anything like that. I'm not Nostradamus; I just judge based on what I can see and have learned from history.

Things could be turned completely on their head by January.

American Research Group and a couple other firms poll likely GOP voters. ARG hasn't done a recent poll of the early states though.

What do you have against strawmen? It's Palin, Palin, or Palin, fool!

I like the photo as well. It's au naturelle. In Sarah Palin’s Alaska she wasn't always couffed. I disagree that she should make any of the changes you suggested. She should continue to do just what she is doing, thank you.

Very good point. If you look at past primaries, establishment candidates have fared well and gone on to win the nomination. The most recent exception would be Ronald Reagan in 1980. The other exception would be Goldwater in 1964. This could be the year when a non-establishment candidate wins - a once in a generation candidate - but I wouldn’t bet on it.

You got that right. They’ve subtly aged her. Look at her neck. What a bunch of creepy, pernicious liars.

It’s the first unflattering photo I’ve seen of SARAH. So they did something to it. Screw’m - they can’t touch her Patriotism nor her real beauty.

Look at Maggie Thatcher, through the years.

Everyone ages; some people age worse than others, due to stress, genetics, and/or health problems or lack thereof.

It is only lately, in the history of mankind, that people refuse to accept the natural aging process and have BOTOX shots, plastic surgery, etc. !

Time once was that men who had extremely young girlfriends/mistresses/wives were applauded. WHY? Because of breeding.

Now, some women take on "boy-toys". It has actually become more or less accepted. WHY ? It has nothing to do with "breeding" !

Don't we all take umbrage when people say that Palin is "too pretty" and/or compare her to a Barbie doll? So what if she ages badly, throughout her presidency and who is to say that she will?

If she's created a network of precinct, county and other GOP leaders..

No, read it again carefully. "...even if it’s not being officially coordinated by her or her advisors...".
