Paul Ryan accuser won't talk [Byron York]
The Washington Examiner ^ | 11 Jul 2011 | Byron York

Posted on 07/11/2011 12:36:20 PM PDT by Meet the New Boss

Susan Feinberg, an associate professor of management and global business at Rutgers University, caused a stir in the left-wing blogosphere over the weekend with her account of witnessing House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan drinking a glass of $350-a-bottle wine at an upscale restaurant near the Capitol.

snip

Feinberg confronted Ryan, accusing him of hypocrisy for drinking an expensive wine while advocating reduced spending for Medicare and Medicaid.

snip

Ryan told TPM that his two dinner-mates had ordered the wine, and that he, Ryan, didn't know what it cost and drank only one glass.

snip

Ryan's dining companions, one of whom was a wealthy hedge-fund manager, ordered two bottles of the $350 wine. Ryan, by his own account, drank one glass but nevertheless paid for one of the bottles.

snip

First, the photo she snapped of Ryan and two men sitting a few tables away appeared to be taken from her own table, and on that table was a bottle of wine.... the wine was a Thierry et Pascale Matrot 2005 Meursault, which is $80 per bottle at Bistro Bis.

Ryan had a glass of wine. Wheter or not he paid for the wine and it was his own personal money it is none of anyone’s business. Much less some total ignorant stranger who has never been taught any kind of manners. I hope Ryan enjoyed every sip and from now on I would say to him to IGNORE that kind of thing. If someone wants to make a big deal out of it...let them. Then we can ask others what they do at lunch or on a trip etc.

We don't need the author's name in the title box because it's right under the title anyway.

Very good point. I dislike the commentaries that some FReepers seem to feel the need to append to titles. I'll make one exception for "Barf Alert" but, that's about all.

What is the value of Free Republic?

A bit of gas:

And her students (at least 11 who say they are) do not give her high grades either, but then what do they know? Especially the two most recent.

How much did it cost for Michelle to go on a shopping spree (vacation) to Spain and South Africa?

Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate fly commercial and Prime Minister Cameron flies commercial.

Maybe she should spend more time on effective teaching techniques and less time on drinking.

Is this the latest modus operandi of the loony left—to attack conservatives in public places as they go about their day?

First Glenn Beck and family assaulted in a NYC park. Now Ryan in a restaurant. Who is giving these marching orders?

Who will criticize Moochie and Bozo at Martha’s Vineyard as they spend $2,000 on one meal of Maine lobster, Japanese beef, and assorted fine wines and desserts?

I agree with you. It’s a practice that has gotten out of hand and begun to affect the quality of the forum.

P.S. On the point of putting comments and "helpful" (in the OP's view) hints in the title box:

#16

Part of an ongoing discussion on that thread. The actual title of the posted article was "Gallup: Obama approval hits all-time low" and the OP had added to the title "(people are figuring out that Obama is distructive [sic])."

The "explanation" in the title box was removed by a mod, I guess.

This problem seems to have gotten better lately.

Mine comes in a box

Mine comes from a big glass water bottle filled with grape juice and yeast and a balloon over the mouth for a week.
