'State of emergency' in 'Nazi'-cop town
WorldNetDaily ^ | July 10, 2011 | July 10, 2011

The Arizona town that's become a YouTube sensation for its police department hauling away a woman speaking at a town-hall meeting declared a state of emergency this afternoon, leaving many local residents in fear of what officers dressed in full riot gear might do.

Jennifer "Jade" Jones, 45, the woman forcibly removed by police from a recent public meeting in Quartzsite, Ariz., despite the vocal objections of the mayor, says an illegal secret meeting was held today with the public locked out of the building.

"About noon today, the town council, at the request of the police chief, declared an official state of emergency," Jones said online. "Please help!"

The Arizona Republic reported the emergency meeting was held "to beef up security after receiving death threats."

Jones told WND there's actually no emergency of any kind, as it's a peaceful Sunday with people attending church; but in the wake of a WND report which exposed allegations of wrongdoing by local government officials, the town council and police convened an unpublicized meeting to declare an emergency for their own protection.

"Obviously it has put a fear into them, as they realize, 'Oh my God, everyone's looking at us now,'" she said. "There's been no incident to warrant this. They did this to protect themselves. The people are in danger."

She says local residents have no idea what may be coming next.

"They've got their tactical gear on, the police chief and his sergeant," Jones said. "I don't know what that means. I need to get the word out in case they come here. I am very concerned for my safety. We're two hours from Phoenix, out in the middle of nowhere. A lot of things can go wrong before someone gets here."

And tons of town council videos on you tube at “1qtown.”

I have no idea how everything got so far out of hand. I’ve watched quite a few of the last few months’ videos and the mayor seems to be a reasonable man. Even while the other council members are making motions, seconding, and “passing” them without being recognized or having the floor.

If Jennifer “Jade” Jones wants to run the meetings she should run for office.

However, the town council cannot have secret meetings.

WTF??

where the hell is the Arizona governor on this
#########

And why hasn’t she sent the state police to protect the citizens from these thugs? This is disgusting and allowing this kind of abuse of power is inexcusable.

Jennifer is running for mayor.
The council is out of control and wresting control from their mayor.

She doesn't want to run the meeting, she just wants the meetings to be public and wishes to exercise her 1st amendment rights.

Still, she can’t give campaign speeches at the meetings.

If I was the governor of AZ.

I'd have a Battalion of National Guard with loaded weapons down there now with orders to disarm the local police and hold them in custody

until I got some info on what the hell these goons were up too

“Still, she can’t give campaign speeches at the meetings.”

Why are you so against this woman? I don’t think she was making a campaign speech. She was right to speak. She had the floor. The Mayor even acknowledged that, but some corrupt members of the council and corrupt police chief unjustly removed her to silence her.

It’s like a town full of corrupt people in power and the Mayor and some concerned citizens are attempting to expose the corruption.

Lawlessness is rampant all over the nation.

Watch the videos of the town council meetings. She was not making a campaign speech. She was politely cricizing her town council during the 4 minutes allowed for each person who came up for citizens’ comments. She was interrupted by a Councilor who took over the meeting from the mayor. Unbelievable, right?
So I watched a few more meetings. The Council is out of control, and the Chief is protecting his cronies because the mayor allowed policemen to read their com plaits against the Chief at another town meeting.

I doubt that you would need the Guard. Punks like this police chief are bullies who are really cowards with badges. When faced by real men who have the same authority as they do they fold up pretty fast.

My guess is, two or three State Police officers could arrest and hold the entire local police force with very little resistance.

Unbelievable disorderly officers. I tried to send a message to the police chief, but the bandwidth is all in use. I will try later.

By declaring a ‘state of emergency’ they can pretty much do whatever they please. However, I don’t believe it is valid without the approval of the mayor.

You ever believe in the results of elections or not. It is the Mayor’s duty to handle his job.

This woman can run for office and take his place in an orderly transition.

You should learn more before commenting.

The mayor and this woman are on the same side, not in competition. The majority of the council has mutinied and have no respect for order ( or rules of order).

She is not elected and does not have the authority of the people behind her. The Mayor must do his own job, the one he has the legal authority to do.

You obviously have not seen the videos. You should watch the video of the meeting, or at least, the shorter video of the incident. I couldn’t believe what I saw on the shorter video, so I watched several meetings, trying to understand.

Ms. Jones was speaking during her turn at the “call for citizens” portion of the meeting, with the approval of the chair of the meeting. She had the floor, at the recognition of the chair, the mayor. She did not violate any rules.

The mayor and Ms. Jones were interrupted by a council member, who initiated the anarchy at the meeting ( several times, in fact). The chief obeyed out of order councilman, rather than the mayor - who, again, had the right to recognize speakers in the meeting.

Mayor’s problem. He can take it to a judge.

She is making it harder for the Mayor.
