McConnell whole point of this proposal is to get Obama to put his cuts in
writing so when the time for the dims comes to demagogue and demonize the GOP for cutting entitlements the GOP can say "these are your cuts Mr. President"
That's why obama will never sign off on it

Obozo will not go for it, he wants a no strings attatched deal with tax increases. If I understand it .. Obama will have to state what cuts in spending he will make (To equal the ceiling debt raise) but .. Here's the kicker: He can then veto those cuts later!?

Perhaps on its face.
But note that the unilateral Zero increase would have to come with equivalent cuts, which Congress can reject with a “resolution of disapproval”, which Zero can then veto!
So if he vetoes the “disapproval” he gets the increase!!! And there is nothing that says the equivalent spending cuts must be immediate. He can raise the limit to fund his pet socialist causes and push off the spending cuts to 2050 if he wants. Where’s the “win” in that?
Do you really think the complicit media and sheeple will place any of the blame for the resulting economic disaster where it belongs? Of course not, the Republicans will be blamed for letting Zero play the happy socialist Pied Piper with all OUR money.

Wait a minute, earlier today he was saying Obama was the problem that wouldn't be solved while he's in office, now this?
The problem here is no one on this site, can read or think for themselves anymore.
Y'all sound like the yahoos SanFran Nan paints you to be.
McConnell proposes to make that loying prick in the White House, PUT IT IN WRITING. Taking away his political BS.
Right now, BarryO is positioning himself for max political gain, and zero downside.
Mitch's move kills that. Before you go insulting everyone and looking like an A$$ .. perhaps YOU need to look at the entire 'sell-out'!?
There is also an option in there that gives Obama the power to VETO the very cuts that he proposes later!

I guess if it looks like a gimmick it is one, and if we fail here we might as well turn out the lights, it's over.

What you are saying makes no frickin’ sense at all. There can be no upside to giving the traitor in the WH unlimited power in regards to the debt ceiling.

Did someone find naked pics of MM or is this BS?It would be foolish to attempt to blackmail Mitch McConnell with naked pictures of himself because it would be us, the viewing public, who would do anything to keep them from being released.
To: Popman
The Republican plan would require that Obama submit spending cuts along with his borrowing requests. BFD. A "cut" could be anything... like a 10% "cut" in his proposed 500% increase in ACORN funding.
To: freejohn
He will be veto his own cuts then because he has to submit them in writing
He will never sign off on this for that reason and McConnell knows it

Most of you guys haven’t thought this through and have this one wrong. If the Republicans do a real long term deal with Obama with significant cuts, Obama is suddenly the President who is the deficit hawk and is easily reelected.
Far better off to do what McConnell suggests and have the long term debt bomb hanging over Obama’s head going into the election. He has no plan, so every Republican can run on a long term fix of the out of control spending. And Obama will again have to ask for a debt limit increase two more times.

I'm more inclined for the House to pass the increase with equal cuts then let the Senate Rats and Obama do what they want.

You’re assuming he’ll put it in writing.
If the does. Rick Perry will be President in 2012. (By an even larger margin)
It’s not Adv. Calculus. it’s 2 and 2.

And he's been trying to get there without specifics, for maximum blame, and minimum responsibility.
