The phone number belonged to someone else. Who had it when he had called it, I don’t know. Haven’t read anywhere that someone claims it. Unfortunately, this guy got it sometime after that.

My point was the whole claim that he was contacting a kidnapper because he misdialed his work number is ridiculous.

No one NEEDS to claim the number, if there were any basis to it, the defense could have subpoenaed the phone company records and gotten the name, SSN or DL, and address of the person who owned the number on that date.
