If You Support Mitch McConnell, We Don’t Support You (A list of the failures of The NO SPINE RINO)

I am instituting a new policy here at RedState. In the future, as we support candidates for the U.S. Senate in Republican Primaries, we will not support any candidate who goes on the record supporting Mitch McConnell as Senate Republican Leader.

That does not preclude them from voting for McConnell once they get there if there are no better options. But when looking to endorse candidates, those who express a willingness to support someone else first will certainly be given more attention.

Why?

Well, it is not just that Mitch McConnell is yet again screwing both the Republican Party and the country. He has a history of playing things to his advantage, even when it means hurting the country and his own political party.

If Mitch McConnell will not turn from his history of failed leadership, we must encourage those running for the Senate to turn from McConnell.

Let’s review the tape, shall we?From my 2009 post on McConnell, Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America pointed these things out:

Senator Mitch McConnell has lost almost every major legislative battle he has managed.

A daunting list, there’s no question McConnell needs to go and hopefully Ol’ Kaintuck will see that.

Another view would be that McConnell is true Blue GOP and we are the RINOS.

I have no brief for or against Mitch McConnell, but folks who are throwing hissy fits over his budget proposal don’t seem to understand politics very well.

Just as in football the objective is not to reach every first down but to reach the goal line more often than the other team ... sometimes in politics a short-term maneuver is needed on behalf of the long-term goal.

In this case, the goal is to “pin the tail on the donkey” through November of next year — which may just be worth a year and a half delay in resolving our economic mess.

Check out Spengler’s analysis in Asia Times for a bit more detail on the strategy and its risks:

I heard John McCain speak on Hannity — Hannity asked point blank “It sounds like you are about to cave?” And McLame tried a dodge but I guess someone got shot down is not too good at jinking flak. To me it sounded like john has already surrendered. He kept claiming the American people aren’t too happy with the Republicans handling of this debate. Well I am listening to Mark Levin on KNZZ AM 1100 and as I’ve gotten used to Levin makes much more sense than any mere politician.
I repeat again The Senate lacks the political will to IMPEACH the man for his high crimes and Misdemeanors and M.M. is convinced Nothin will get fixed until the 0 is gone.Sort of reminds me of the Germans who realized what they had with Hitler but went along because they were too weak to rid themselves of him. SO we are s’posed to just let him and the jackass politicians continue to destroy America
I say if we are to wait until the next presidential election to be rid of the 0 we ought insist every mere politician who supported the 0 leave at the same exit/same time. Then we could have change we could believe in.

Say you want a Revolution?

You say you want a debt solution
Well, you know
We don’t want a RINO plan
Mitch tells us it's the only solution
Well, you know
We don’t want a RINO plan
But when you talk about tax and spending
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all cut
all cap, all balance

0bama says he’s got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
0bama asks me for a tax solution
Well, you know
that’s goin’ right into the can
Cause when he wants taxes
for liberals with plans that waste
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be all cut
all cap, all balance
Ah ah, ah, ah, ah, ah...

You say you'll shred the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change Mitch’s job
Mitch tells us it's the only solution
Well, you know
Mitch is going to lose his job instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Barak
You simply are putting America into hock
Don't you know it's gonna be all cut
all cut, all cut
all cap, all cap, all cap
and balance

First draft. Revisions welcome!

Check on Mitch’s bank accounts, his retirement accounts and his campaign accounts. The bastard has to be getting paid off somehow to throw us all under the bus like this.

A recent walkabout through Google revealed yet another reason to jettison McConnell.

In 1995, he introduced a resolution proposing the repeal of the 22nd Amendment which limits Presidential terms to 2. Clinton was president.

Guess who was co-sponsor?

That's right, Harry Reid.

S.J.RES.23 Latest Title: A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second amendment relating to Presidential term limitations. Sponsor: Sen McConnell, Mitch [KY] (introduced 1/24/1995) Cosponsors (1)
