So you’re a policeman (or a ferry worker) and you just heard about some sort of explosion in Oslo. So you’re worried about a blonde guy speaking native Norwegian on a ferry?
You’re making the assumption that there are any police on the ferry or at the ferry terminal. I seriously doubt that. Norway isn’t Israel.

I find it hard to believe there were zero security personnel on this island.
It sounds like the people on the island were sitting ducks. Trapped with nowhere to hide. Was there any security there at all?
I have to wonder, if there had been just one armed citizen there (other than the criminal), would we be seeing a much lower number of murders?
In New York City some years ago, a man with a machete began to hack people to death on the Staten Island ferry. Luckily, a retired cop was on board, and he just happened to have a gun on him. He ended the killing spree by threatening the machete man with the gun. Two people died from the machete wounds, but it could have been much worse.
My sympathies to the families of the dead, and to all Norwegians.

Few if any of the 24 hour news channels have any live programming past about 9:00 or 10:00 pm in the US. And Sky News just started scrolling the news at the bottom of the screen, while continuing to rerun earlier coverage over and over.

It does seem to be a complex issue. I find similar issues in Canada. Most Americans down south (Texas in particular, where I’m from) think Canada is 100% socialist, but I have found that is far from the truth (now in CA but moving back to TX).
