Please pardon another basic question but are those extra fuel tanks on the wings of the F16? Great pic.

The fighter on the left is an F-15 Eagle, the one on the rifght is an F-22 Raptor. There is no F-16 in that picture.

Yes that F15 has 4 external gas tanks. The round ones that are obvious under his wings are drop tanks. So named because when moving to an Air to Air engagement the pilot can “drop” or jettison them. It also looks like that particular Eagle is equipped with what they call FAST or Conformal external tanks . They are tanks that are fitted to the side of the aircraft body. They allow carrying extra fuel and sensors, Fuel And Sensor Tactical, while decreasing the drag of the external tanks.
