I would like to know exactly what the end-game strategy is for conservatives who urge opposition to the Boehner bill.

They believe the public will be on their side, I rather suspect the public will not be the very second a single transfer payment, SS check, veterans benefit, etc is cut off. In fact, I'd bet even the moment national parks close down and govt contractors aren't getting paid the majority of the American public will absolutely demand that money restored.

This is 1995 all over again if we aren't careful. People have way too much faith in the American public. If the American public blames the GOP for a shutdown of services any leverage we had will be shot. Think the Boehner plan is bad, just wait till the public is demanding all services are restored.

Being right isn't enough, winning the PR war is every bit if not more important. This American pubic is simply not ready yet for a 40% cut in government services which is basically what were going to get if we can't borrow more money. We need to get the best deal we can, declare victory and keep pushing for more and more and more and more. The terms of the debate have already changed in our favor.

Sorry, we don't have the money. No money = no time to play politics.

To which the left will respond: "then stop protecting your rich republican friends and raise taxes on the rich!". There's no getting around playing politics.

You are the problem with the party. The same people who voted Republican IN DROVES will NOT be there if Boehner’s monstrosity is allowed to go through. I won’t be there. So we lose.

IF your scenario comes true we lose, if not we win.

The way I see it, the only real course of action is the unknown: stick to your guns. That is the only course of action that has a chance of winning.

Tell me, exactly what is the difference between a Democrat like Obama who puts us 25 trillion in the red or a Republican like Boehner who puts us 24 trillion in the red?

You know who will be to blame if checks don’t go out: The PEOPLE. They are the idiots who voted these criminals into office. I hope they get mad, damn it, I hope something affects they way they vote besides what they usually say their reasons are.

I'm not talking about pleasing them. Just showing how we lose in the court of public opinion. I've seen leftist idiots on other boards post what I posted to you. I never said their arguments were not weak.

It was stunningly weak of the Nazis to blame all their problems on the Jews. However, that position won the day in Nazi Germany. Just because a position is weak does not mean it will not hold sway over the weak minded.
