” Well, it is an emergency. “ <<<<<

It’s still a heck of a term for a committee rule. I wondered when and where that moniker came from, and if “same day” authority somehow pulls Boehner”s fat out of the fire for losing the vote tonight. He may be in trouble.

Perhaps you should run for congress, and the Speakers job, if you think it is so easy.At least John is trying to do something. Which is a lot more than anyone else has done for over 800 days.

I called my congressman who has chosen to support Boehner, and I mentioned my disappointment in West. The young woman manning the phones explained West’s position and I understood. You might call and ask his rational. I would tell you what she said, but frankly, it has all gotten so complicated, I’m not sure I’d tell you right.

I wish my rep. was not choosing this stand, but I understand his rational. I told his secretary that I think this has become a triangulation to cut out the conservatives in order to make them look like the schmucks brought to dinner to be made fun of. I hope it doesn’t turn out that way. I want to be wrong.

Spending is the issue. I thought CCB was an reasonable effort— not perfect, but reasonable. I really hoped, like so many others, that they would stand their ground there. Oh, well. It’s not over til it’s over. Who knows?

Good post. They've called their own bluff with these perpetual scare tactics, but the corruption is so deep they'll choose the path of manufactured crisis in order to "save face". Bizarro world, the Obamanation of desolation.

It's the beast with two houses er horns that makes the laws, forcing all to prostrate before "the" beast, hmmm. Tick tock...

MESSIER THAN YOU THINK: If Boehner bill fails, it makes it trickier for anything to get through Senate. Dems need it as a vehicle. 4 minutes ago via web

This type of bill must originate in the House. But Reid can take CCB off the table and use it as a vehicle.

Tea party backers — why don’t you form your own political party? You are an embarassment to may Republicans.

********************

Not true. Establishment Republicans are beyond embarrassment.

You do realize that the day of the Republican establishment is done, don’t you? Over. Either it is displaced and replaced by sincere representatives, or the GOP is utterly abandoned in the next few years. Either way, the day of the GOP nomenklatura is dead as dead can be. Dead as Vichy France. Dead as the Mensheviks. Dead as the Whigs. Dead, dead, dead.

That 14 trillion is only the what the US Government owes. The US itself owes 9 trillion, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae owe 6 trillion; state and local government, banks mortgages, credit cards; etc, etc and etc add up to about 52 trillion debt. It’s the compounded interest that killing us.

The debt ceiling was passed years ago to cap government borrowing. That legislation is working. It is capping government borrowing. I think these filthy pigs should just leave the capitol and go home. They have bankrupted the country and everything they are working on tonight preserves the status quo. Its tax, borrow, print into oblivion...

The impasse we’re at will ensure that our credit rating is downrated and that interest rates will skyrocket as the market tanks. We’re toast and screwed. But then....I knew that as soon as Obama’s 2008 win was made official.

Our government is now dysfunctional. And I don’t see it getting any better ......ever...at this point.

“I don’t remember being so ashamed of the Republican party in a long time... the lack of any respect for others, like John Boehner, is appalling. Tea party backers — why don’t you form your own political party? You are an embarassment to may Republicans.”

The lack of respect for the American taxpayer is more appalling. Boehner and the zoo in Congress work for us.

You want respect...you give respect. You don’t steal people’s money like the Soc Sec program and spend it on every gluttonous program that you think will get you elected. We entrust these people with our lives and the lives of our families......the life and soul of our country hangs in the balance.

So you go join the dems or independents or whatever you need to...but, you won’t outrun what these politicians are doing to us.

As for the Tea Party, they aren’t going anywhere. This is just the beginning.

3. All cuts suggested in the most liberal or conservative bills are FAR FAR FAR - light years away - from what we need.

What no one is recognizing is that these are NOT CUTS - they are cuts in the rate of spending increases planned over the next decade. NO CUTS.

Even former Mexican President Fox said on tonight on Cable that “The US is Broke, if it were a business”

Well, then where was he all those years he was President and his own people were rushing across the border to help bankrupt the U.S.?

Sorry, as a legal American citizen, I don't need a lecture from present or former Mexican leaders. Illegal immigration, and all of the freebies that go along with successfully entering the U.S. illegally, explain, in large part, the debt problem we now face.
