Impy, communism is intrinsically evil and people who do commie organizing are engaged in criminal behavior. So, yes, it is proper to criminalize this type of politics.

Same thing with the Nazis. They are criminals. Organized crime. (Just my viewpoint.)

“What’s stopping them from calling themselves “Democrats” instead?”

This is true, the Czechs “conservtives” should be warned that a name is but a name. You can’t ban a political party, you just force them to become something more dangerous. A politician that supports every aspect of the communist agenda but deny’s it.

Excellent point! Why is putting the word "Party" after something make it OK? I could create the "NAMBLA Party", would that make it OK?

I thought that was the Democrat Party...after all just ask Barney Frank....

That’s the thing, they can just form a new party.

And if they ban the espousing of communism all together they can just call their policies something else.

Yes and yes, CF.

What’s a practical way to “ban” a political party? There isn’t one that I can see.

Not in a democracy anyway. Ideas can’t be killed, only the people that have them. (which brings me back to the shooting them part ;) )
