Woman Fears Eviction Over Social Security Checks

FREEDOM, Calif--

Thousands of people on the Central Coast are fearing the worst. Social Security offices are being flooded with phone calls about the crisis and one woman is being asked to pay her bills early, before her checks stop coming.

Sarah Franklin lives in Freedom and on Friday morning she got a call from the manager at the apartment complex she lives at, asking for rent early. She said they're afraid she won't have money to pay it next week if she doesn't get her social security check.

"It's just really scary," she said. "I feel like such a baby for crying but the thing is, I'm not by myself, there's other people."

Franklin lives in the Pajaro Vista Apartments, a government funded complex that charges rent based on what you get in social security. Franklin gets about $970 in social security, so her rent is about $250 a month.

It's the end of the month and she's basically out of cash so hearing the complex wanted next months rent early was quite a shock.

My mother was upset this week yapping about not getting her Social Security check on the 3rd of Aug. & mine is due the 3rd Wed. of the month. I’m not worried as I can see a total call for impeachment if checks do not arrive as scheduled. This government needs to be reduced by at least 50% or more. Too many workers doing duplicate work that is covered by the States.

My dad gets SS deposited directly, and it doesn’t arrive until the 6th - that is seven days hence.

Mine is direct deposited on the third Wednesday of each month. RAT fear tactics appear to be working on a lot of folks; we need to counter that with the truth.

I get mine on the third Wed of the month - alphabetically?

No, alphabet has nothing to do with it.

SS used to be sent to arrive on the 3rd of the month. That hasn't changed for anyone who is receiving their SS on that date.

A change was made several years ago that spreads out the deliveries, whether by direct deposit or by check. People born in the first third of the month get theirs on the second Wednesday of the month; people born in the middle third get theirs on the third Wednesday; anyone born in the last third of the month get theirs on the fourth Wednesday.

The story doesn’t make sense. If the Landlord fears she will not have the money if the checks do not come in what makes the fool think she has the money now?

That's just stupid. If she had the money, she'd have it after the 1st. So paying early wouldn't make a difference.

Exactly the civil unrest and fear Obama wants to foment and his leftist media will exploit thru these anecdotal stories.

Hitler had similar tactics.

“”People who have direct deposit got them a couple of days ago,””

My direct deposit is on or about the 15th of each month.

Someone should let these folks know about HR2496- The Promise Act by Michelle Bachmann. This bill guaranteed that no matter what happened, military pay and Social Security would not be impacted. This was passed by the House and Harry Reid, all by himself, tabled the bill and refused to let it even come up for a vote in the Senate. If anything is held up, they should place blame squarely at Harry Sheriff of Nottingham Reid.

I'm willing to bet the managers of this government funded complex were told to ask for rent payments early as a means of scaring the tenants.

And then the media peons get a tip on where to find the scared people.

So, if one gets $0 in SS, then I suppose the rent should also be $0.

Oh, puleez. She has a contract so the landlord can not force her to pay early. The checks are going out just as they’ve always done. This is either totally made up and/or instigated by the msm or it’s just another Hussein scare tactic. Besides, doesn’t she know how hard it is to throw renters out?

don’t you just love how when the left says Boo, their scare tactics always work on certain groups of people?

Why don’t they run out to the “media” (or wait for the “media” to come to them, as they obviously have) and say, “But Al Gore said there was a Social Security lockbox and it was safe and secure!”.

The apartment is government funded, why do they care if the people pay “rent” or not?

Rather than call the SS office they should reverse the threats, call the White House and let the president know that his threats against the people will result in threats against him.

Taking their lives will not be tolerated
