I just finished watching Meet the Press and I was blown away by Raul Labrador! He didn't let anybody get away with any crap, but without looking nasty. He was totally rational and had facts at hand without a stumble. He thinks on his feet!

I wasn't sure why they let him speak and finish his points. Maybe it was because he has a slight Spanish accent and it wouldn't be PC to slam him.

Also, he was supported in many of his telling points by Tom Brokaw who was deep in the tank for Obama... Is it possible a tectonic shift is occurring?

If I am not mistaken Gretchen has family that had a car dealership put in jeopardy by the regime. Ever since then she has become a bit more conservative, IMHO.

Rep. Labrador was fantastic on MTP. First he exposed what a bad Governor Granholm was in Michigan. Granholm kept criticizing the Tea Party and how it was responsible for preventing an agreement to raise the debt ceiling. He specifically mentioned how taxes and unemployment had increased in Michigan while she was Governor.

Then he corrected the self-rightous Tom Brokaw when he said the Tea Party had been a loser this week. He pointed out that The House had passed 2 plans to raise the debt ceiling and The Senate had not passed any plan. Brokaw's expression was priceless. Way to go Rep. Labrador, you are not afraid to correct the propagandists to their faces.

I am just loving the Dems going on and on about their “new” insight that we are trillions in debt and it is unsustainable.

the lies continue....and their hysterical scramble to cover and reach the voters is pathetic, but so enjoyable to watch!!

SCHADENFREUDE!!!

From now until election this man’s actions have to be stopped by the only warriors we have on the front, and that’s the House Republicans.

That's easy to type out and easy to say on the radio, The stalwarts have done well to do a holding action and taken tax increases off the table. The effective proposals have all been brought forward - from our side. Every single one pronounced DOW. What are you going to do with that?

The natural fact is that we lack the power (numbers) to win this. Now, the best play we have is to acknowledge defeat - and emphasize that the President and Harry Reid. WON!!!

Let 'em wear it like the albatross of "The Ancient Mariner" that it is.

AB, it’s not that the Bush tax cuts will be withdrawn or AMT won’t be “fixed” again....but yesterday, the Reid plan was being estimated these things WOULD happen. IOW, they were fake “savings” of up to possibly 3.8 Trillion over 10 years. They won’t exist.

The fear is that this Joint Select Committee can recommend tax increases/reform. I was wondering if anyone else had heard whether this has changed.

I haven’t read any analysis of the latest Reid proposal, but if the Joint Select Committee gets even more power (with the enforcement of defense and Medicare cuts if their recommendations are not passed), that’s a lot of power in only a few hands.

2010 was a start. 2012 will either finish that start or it will be our end. I am convinced of this.

The other thing I am convinced of is that the economy is NOT going to get better

For what it's worth, I think your above commentary is on the money. The whispered secret even within the hallowed DC beltway, is that the PROBLEM with the economy is....not more spending, lose a point if you said that. Not taxing the "rich". Not even, at this point, ridding the world forever from Obamacare.

The problem with the economy is OBAMA. The companies simply will NOT go our on any limbs....youcanleadahorsetowaterbutyoucan'tmakehimdrink...nah, nah, nah.

Obamer really hates this but tis so.

I also believe, to my great concern, that if Obamer is not thrown out this next election, AB, forget any bother of doing this Sunday thread. All of us, yon emotionals and like myself....the calm and rational ;), should take up a new hobby to take minds away from the country cause you will not recognize it. Do your best to inculcate a work ethic, some morals perhaps, into your children and grandchildren, pray an awful lot....and know that America as it once was is done.

Cause Obamer's shows no reticense in going out and demoguoguing everything even while such nonsense brings down his approval...for sure with the re-election wind at his back he will have carte blanche to dismantle and destroy this country.

Don't like the notion but I believe tis true.

Don’t count me among those who would be angered by your arguments. I agree with you!

I have this suspicion that this issue is what will force Sarah’s hand. I’m already waiting anxiously for her labor day keynote at the Tea Party event in Iowa. She’ll run against ALL of establishment Washington, Dems and, especially, RINOs.

To get him out he will have to be given some job where he gets to give speeches constantly (maybe his own cable channel) and about a billion dollars so Michelle can go shopping.

To save face he could claim some health issue. Give him a big plaque from a grateful nation, enshrining him as the first black president. That will make the black supporters happy. The leftists won’t know what to do so they will be confused.

A grateful nation (and a good chunk of the world) would heave a sigh of relief.

Link to the proposed "tentative deal. Congressional Sources: Republicans and Democrats Reach Tentative Debt Deal

here's the part about the JSCommittee:

............"The formation of a special Congressional committee to recommend further deficit reduction of up to $1.6 trillion (whatever it takes to add up to the total of the debt ceiling increase). This deficit reduction could take the form of spending cuts, tax increases or both. ".................

The committee must make these recommendations before Thanksgiving and it must be approved by Dec. 23. Otherwise, automatic cuts to Defense and Medicare will occur. Medicare cuts are limited and will be taken from providers, not beneficiaries. Defense cuts will be harsher. The fear is that Repubs will be forced to accept tax increases or have the Pentagon gutted.

This is nuts.

Great catch.

Earlier this week Newt Gingrich was on Bill Bennett's' show,he uttered a statement that I will not soon forget any time soon it was so priceless:

The dems firmly believe they can lie faster than we can tell the truth.

His wisdom comes out again. Too bad his other traits are also evident.

You gotta wonder where they would draw the line on spending if they even would.

I just wish that when the Dems start using their scare tactics about cutting Medicare, they and the public would be reminded that those who supported Obamacare have already consented to cutting half a trillion dollars in Medicare.

And just why should Gretchen or her ilk go reminding of this? On to my pet peeve, indulge me, but why doesn't every Republican, every time SHOCK AND AWE, cuts in Medicare are discussed, SAY YOUR SENTENCE ABOVE OVER AND OVER?

Last week, don't know if you all heard, Rush was called and asked this very question. Why don't the Repubs fight back by keep repeating, well....the TRUTH for one thing, at all those lies thrown at them by the media/Dems? As I paraphrase.

Rush sighed. My sense is that, like me, he wonders this same thing. The Dems stand tall and proud and repeat lies over and over with no morals whatsoever and all the hell we want our side to do is TELL THE TRUTH AGAINST THE LIES~!

Rush said that he thinks the pubs just don't want to be bothered. He said he thinks the pubs think that sort of thing is all a silly game and beneath them; that they have more important things to do.

My granddaughter, she's seven, loves to play Yahtzee. This child, God bless, will go for a Yahtzee (five of a kind, the most difficult roll); it's her reason to play. So while the other players are racking up small straights and large straits and bonus on the top tier of the score sheet, Kaitlyn is rolling over and over to get a Yahtzee.

Comes game end she always loses, by a large margin, heh. Oh once in a while she wins, she actually gets a Yahtzee then can go for the smaller points. But mostly she loses.

This is how the Republicans play politics.

Would a majority in the House approve of legislation including potential tax increases? I hope not.
