“...the legality of building a nuclear reactor in a domestic kitchen.”
The legality would have been different if it had been a commercial kitchen ?

Reminds me of the kid at MIT who designed a nuclear bomb based on materials out in the public domain for a project. His report was censored by the government and locked away, but he got an A+.

So what was he arrested for, building something in an area that is zoned for cooking?

Wasn’t this a Barney Miller episode 30 years ago?

This is a bit irritating because it looks like the guy tried to do everything above-board and legally. Why then was he arrested?

Safer than some of the biological experiments in my kitchen. Some tomatoes I found in a bag on top of my refrigerator demanded voting and welfare rights.
"To get it to generate electricity you would need a turbine and a generator and that is very difficult to build yourself," he told HD.
Could just get a thermoelectric generator and hook it to the hot reactor.

I’m sure, or just go to flea markets. Hell, I know I have all the components for one down in the garage somewhere, but my wife keeps cleaning up down there and puts everything in the wrong boxes. One of these days she’s going to throw a fuel rod in a box where it doesn’t belong and BAM, we’ll all be history.
