Skip to comments.Palin: House passage of debt deal is a victory for the Tea Party

It seems to be the new talking point: The deal is a victory for conservatives not because of what it does (which is, not much!), but because it supposedly represents a change in the direction of the debate. Once, Washington discussed what to grow. Now, Washington discusses what to cut. Even former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has echoed the theme but with qualifications. The Wall Street Journal Washington Wire reports:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Mondays House vote to lift the debt ceiling was a victory for the tea party, proving that conservative activists had shifted the conversation in Washington.
We shall take this victory and make sure our politicians in office today are learning from this victory, Ms. Palin said Monday night on Fox News, where she is a paid contributor. Its not a 100% pure genuine victory. We just handed the most liberal president, I believe, in U.S. history a $2.4 billion debt increase.
Ms. Palin didnt fully embrace the deal, saying she had plenty of problems with the compromise between the White House and congressional leaders, including Republican House Speaker John Boehner. In the past, the former governor said she was not convinced America would face a default if lawmakers did not raise the debt ceiling by Aug. 2.
Meanwhile, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), one of the founders of the Tea Party Caucus in Congress (along with GOP presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann), says the deal cant possibly be touted as a win.
The Tea Party is not calling this a victory, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said today on Fox News. Im certainly not.

How many times this story going to be posted.
No, not meaning the debt bill.
Palin gave kudos to the Tea Party for helping frame the debate and later she says we got a bill which she says was a victory (though not absolute, pure 100% victory because there are things in there she doesn't like) and she called it a step in the right direction. Yes, she said other things too but I point out these things because some are saying they aren't there.
I agree with her. And I also agree with her that Biden is vile.
People must realize that all of this 'victory' talk has only one purpose - that is, to once again hijack the debate and the terms of exchange. All the Dems and the media are using the word 'victory.' That alone should make us skeptical. They are trying to avoid having to admit that this is the largest debt ceiling hike ever, and contains no legitimate spending cuts.
Reid, Pelosi, Boxer - would never openly admit defeat of any kind. They fact that they are calling this a Republican victory and giving any credit to the Tea Party - is a joke.
Why don't you add something to the conversation instead of stirring up the pot and instigating flame wars?
You can’t understand the simplest of things and you ARE KNOWN for your PDS. You have a double case of venom. Like I said - you are declared null and void. And you can’t spin your ‘history’.
And what have you just done, ol’ Ronnie?
I didn’t start any crap with you, yet you attack me.
By your own definition, who is the troll?
Er, not come here to start flame wars and disrupt??
I go out and participate and contribute here, unlike you...
Now, what is it exactly that YOU do?
As I already replied to the OP, the headline was just a bit (sarcasm) misleading.
I have to admit, I haven't seen or heard Huntsman's response. In fact, I haven't seen or heard him at all in weeks.
BTW, I HATE the result.
Oh goody, another lying, thruth twisting to meet their agenda troll.
Is that all?
Hey, good on you for being active.
Here’s a piece of advice for you though:
Don’t meddle with things you don’t understand.
Do you wish for me to do research for you? Find threads for you?
Or have you seen them all, thus your assertion?
Somehow I reckon you have no clue.
What exactly is your problem? The fact that I don’t fawn over a potential candidate?
Really? Just that? Or is it something else?
Try, if you can, to articulate your trouble.
We’ll see if we can fix it for you.
Put up or shut up, jerkoff.
You started with that snarky comment, and that's your problem, not mine. I've provided full quotes, that show the author of this article is full of it, as well as the poster called "what's up".
Do you have anything further to add?
If it were not for your odd homosexual request, I'd put
my FReeping record up against yours any day and all day.
The trouble is that you seem to be requesting some kind of
perverted sexual manual gratification. Are you on the right forum?
It was a step, but NOT a victory.
To say we won because we put up a good fight, is like saying Bama won the Iron Bowl in 2010 because they dominated the first half. However, in the end, Bama LOST THE GAME AND WE LOST THIS BILL.
Yes, we put up a good fight and scared the bejeebers out of them. That is why they are trying hard to convince us that we won. They are hoping we’ll take our victory and be satisfied with it.
At the end of the day, the debt ceiling has been raised. Our taxes will go up in 2013 and we have vague promises of some futuristic, nebulous, spending cuts.
We lost this one.
I think you're projecting once again.
But that's all you're good for anyway.
Yes, I think I do. Thank you for asking.
Change and deflect the subject at hand. Where is the proof of your accusations that you said you could provide and just as important, what is it that you contribute here?
Can't answer, eh?
Everyone here knows what you are....
Either answer or do not bother responding, feeding trolls is not my forte....but you are fun to expose and make fun of.
