Washington - Rep. David Wu remained in Congress Tuesday, despite his announcement a week ago that he would resign as soon as the debt crisis was resolved.
Erik Dorey, spokesman for the Democratic congressman said he might have more details on a possible timeline for Wus departure on Wednesday. The House does not have votes scheduled this week but could be called in Friday. After Friday, Congress is in recess for August.
Wu insisted on staying for the debt limit vote, and on Monday, approved a bill to increase the debt limit. The Senate concurred on Tuesday, and President Obama signed the legislation shortly after 11 a.m. Portland time.
Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber cant set a date for a special election to replace Wu until he resigns. Two Democrats, Rep. Brad Witt and Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian, have already announced they will run. A third, state Sen. Suzanne Bonamici, is expected to join them.
Democrat and former Secretary of State Bill Bradbury said he expects Wu to act reasonably quickly" -- but he doesn't fault Wu for failing to send out a letter right away.
"Given that the president just signed the bill," Bradbury said, "I cut him a little bit of slack."

You hang in there, Wu. Don’t let ‘em run you off!
This reminds me...did The Weiner ever leave?

He is having trouble getting his little “paws” around the pen to sign his resignation.
Thanks...so I guess he’s “spending more time with his family” and “working on projects that he’s passionate about”, eh?
give this idiot another tiger suit, and maybe he’ll finally go...
He is just making sure that his resignation letter is G-r-r-r-r-reat!!!
I'm guessing he's busy decorating baby's new room, picking out colors, buying a crib and stroller, maybe a carseat or two...

Now that’s funny right there.
These guys would all fit in nicely with that guy who dressed like a baby and lived with his girlfriend on SSI. Remember, he sat in a big diaper in a crib and had her feed him ?
If they ever leave government they can live with that guy.
Or perhaps that diaper guy should run for office.
I have an uncle who lives in Portland. He tells me that Wu is a real dousche bag.
Congress -- so out of touch with reality and above the rule of law that they really have made themselves the modern equivalent of the corrupt aristocracy that the U.S. supposedly separated from nearly two and a half centuries ago.
