It may be early in the campaign season, but the Communist Party USA already has seen fit to endorse Barack Obama for the 2012 election.

While noting he is disappointed with "some aspects" of the Obama administration's domestic and foreign policy, Sam Webb, chairman of the Communist Party USA, threw his support behind Obama's re-election bid.

The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where he developed a close relationship, almost like a son,
with Frank Marshall Davis, a known communist. In his book, “Dreams From My Father,” Obama refers to him as “Frank.”

The 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Hawaii Legislature identified Davis as a CPUSA member. The FBI kept him under surveillance for years.
