Then it was mandated the PO will hire blacks and women no matter if they had qualifications.....Affirmative Action!

What would all of us do if this gaggle of useless people were let go? Steet wars?

The point I was trying to make was about saving jobs. Wiki states that over 500k americans are employed by USPS. Veterans and disabled veterans included. I’ve been around long enough to know that the postal system is not perfect and yes our mail does get lost or delayed. The internet is no perfect delivery system either (Hackers). Again, I’ve been around long enough to know what the Black Hats can do. My point is that I don’t want to have 500k+ employees applying for unemployment and if going back to snail mail will help prevent it, then that’s what I’m going to do

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I do mean that (no tongue in cheek).
I have to say though...I'm glad that this conversation is by electronic means, and not pen and paper. I used my last Elvis stamp the other day (tongue in cheek).
I still feel that the USPS is necessary and beneficial. There is something about mail call when you are overseas in-country. Opening a letter or card is still, to me, more meaningful than opening an e-mail.

Here’s an idea! Make a law requiring everyone pay 45 cents to pay a bill online.

That would be a major boost to the Chinese financial services sector. And I'd be first in line as a customer.

I called my local post office about a business mailing that I needed to purchase postage. I was told they would NOT print out postage for me on this mailing of approximately 100 pieces. Carla referred me to the website and advised I print postage via other means. I then called a post office that is listed As a main unit and the supervisor there told me that my local post office could NOT refuse to service me as a customer. Push come to shove... I needed to go forward so printed all the postage via my little Dymo/Endicia account. My main concern through this project was being sure the proper postage was on each piece. It was pretty much impossible to get a straight answer. As many may know... if you put the wrong amount on the piece it will be returned to you and you LOSE the money you have spent. Pretty much a crap shoot. No wonder they are in trouble.

We also have to accept blame for some of the USPS financial woes because WE choose to pay our bills on-line instead of spending the HUGE sum of 44 cents for a stamp. Saying that it's cheaper to pay on-line is a load of crap. It's more convenient is all.

You sound like Zero whining about ATMs. Are you sure you don't belong on the DUmp?

More convenient is all that matters. Cheaper it is, but that's just a bonus, LOL!

I pay all my bills at B of A's website. In advance, at precisely scheduled due dates. Works fine, every time. Clicks, not licks.

Oh, I do have a few of those Forever Stamps lying around, probably enough to last the rest of my life!

As for the Post Office, stick a fork in it! (Let my heirs Ebay my Forever stamps!)

So, you hate people who make some money? Sounds just like a liberal to me.

While your post doesn’t deserve a response you’ve hit me at the right time...

I hate NO ONE who MAKES money. To be clear...that is by someone working hard to better themselves individually so that they can be all they can be (sounds like a commercial).

Please tell me what that person who is hired by the postal service did to achieve that $40k starting salary? What did they sacrifice, what did they do to MAKE that amount of money?

Why do other similar types of organizations pay something less than a $40k per year starting salary?

Understand this...I am for everyone earning, let me repeat, EARNING, as much as they can. I am not for giving it away in quasi government agencies because you have a union that negotiated it. Do you even wonder why you’re losing so much money?

Seems to me you, my friend, is the one who has been liberalized.

It’s a thankless task trying to educate some of the peeps on this forum that the problem is Congress still using the USPS as a beard for their profligate spending.

Just wanted you to know that some of us get it.
