Y’know what would be a great training aid? A drug, oral or injected, that helped the body simulate the stress it feels under that situation. A person could take it, practice shooting, and practice self control techniques to get his shooting to par under combat type stress.
Might have to practice with AirSoft at first, though. Too much of a chance that you might shoot yourself or a trainer...
Hmmm. Even practicing writing with a pencil and paper under that sort of stress might help you develop control.

Yah... while it’s of course impossible to fully duplicate combat stress in practice, it does help to get involved in things like competitive shooting. The flop-sweat... the stiffness... the shakes... the fear... It was humbling. I consider myself a pretty good shot, but in my first tastes of competition I couldn’t hit a damn thing.

It’s not on the same level, but the basic ability to re-focus through and past the stressors is probably going to make the stress surge of a combat situation at least feel a little familiar.
